With the range of devices available, business owners have options available to them to meet their different needs and requirements.

According to Azizah Ali, Director, Small and Medium Solutions and Partners, Microsoft Malaysia, “For more than 20 years in Malaysia, Microsoft has worked closely with our partners to help Malaysian businesses transform through technology, so they can focus squarely on what matters most: building the business. Our partnership with TM has yielded many great initiatives, such as the ‘Office in a Box’ and ‘UniFi with Office 365’ programs, and today, we are delighted to continue in the same vein with our longstanding partners, TM and Intel. With processors running the range from Xeon to vPro, and Core to Atom, Intel offers a comprehensive range of enterprise solutions featuring the best combination of performance, capabilities and cost effectiveness,” added Prakash.

Timely Opportunity For SMEs To Get To Modern: Door Closes On Support For Windows XP
With the retirement of Windows XP and Office 2003 on 8 April 2014, the need for businesses and consumers to upgrade to newer versions of Windows and Microsoft Office has never been greater.

Microsoft announced a year ago that they will end support, including automatic security patches, for its 12-year-old Windows XP operating system. As a result, customers will no longer receive new security updates, non-security hotfixes, free or paid assisted support options or online technical content updates. This means that any new vulnerabilities discovered in Windows XP after its “end of life” will not be addressed by new security updates from Microsoft, leaving users vulnerable to malware attacks and countless security risks.

These companies are also at risk of compromising their ability to be more productive and collaborative, as the lack of technical support results in costly productivity loss for businesses in the event of computer downtime or software compatibility issues.

Industry associations in Malaysia are in unison over the urgent need to upgrade to newer version of the Windows OS and Office productivity suite. Seow Thong Seng, ICT Chairman of Malaysian Plastics Manufacturers Association (MPMA), said, “Windows XP has been a dependable piece of computer software popular with many SMEs in Malaysia because it was stable, fast, powerful and relatively simple to use. Now with the end of support for Windows XP, it is critical that SME owners come to understand the significance of this event. The end of support will mark the start of what could be an IT nightmare for businesses as they are exposed to IT security risks and compliance issues if they continue to use Windows XP after 8 April 2014. The message to our members is clear - step up and migrate to Windows 8.1 and Office 365 to avoid being exposed to the security and privacy risks, and to take advantage of what newer and more modern technology has to offer."

Teh Kee Sin, National President of SMI Association of Malaysia echoed MPMA's sentiments, saying, “There will be questions of financial and time investment to execute the whole process, but the benefits of being secure and protected far outweigh the unacceptable risks of being left vulnerable to security and privacy threats. Businesses need to think about the significant advantages that a more modern operating system entails. Realistically, the investment can be quickly recouped as they see improvements to their IT ecosystem – improved security features, better business efficiency and higher user productivity. It’s high time to get the migration process started now.”

“The modern workforce requires the tools to allow them to stay productive anytime, anywhere, while businesses have an ever increasing need to protect data and ensure security, compliance and manageability. Windows 8.1 and Office 365 are designed with these needs in mind. These are the real needs that a 12-year-old OS can no longer address. Good Bye XP, Good Buy Windows 8 is a timely initiative to help business owners make the much needed migration to stay at the forefront of technology, and at the same time avoid the security pitfalls of outdated and unsupported software,” Azizah concluded.

HP Accelerates Partners’ Path to Growth

Enhanced HP PartnerOne program delivers simplicity and profitability

KUALA LUMPUR 4 November 2013 — HP announced enhancements to its global PartnerOne program, making it easier and more predictable for partners to do business with HP—helping them to gain a competitive advantage and increase profitability.

The simplified program will focus on a structure that offers a predictable and profitable compensation model with new competitive rebates. This includes streamlined certification requirements and the creation of role-based certifications spanning all regions and HP business units, including HP Enterprise Group, HP Software, and HP Printing and Personal Systems.

Thiyagu Letchumanan_Managing Director, Hewlett-Packard Malaysia.

The HP PartnerOne enhancements also include an intuitive membership structure and an enhanced partner portal navigation experience.

HP partners such as Convergent Technologies Group, an enterprise solutions partner, are already talking about how these improvements will foster growth, increase revenue and make it easier to work with HP as well as their customers.

“In order to grow business, partners need programs that offer tailored resources as well as effective training and support to help our customers meet their goals,” said John Monahan, executive vice president, Sales, Convergent Technologies Group. “The new HP PartnerOne model provides us with the right tools and incentives we need to grow our business with HP and our customers.”

Consistent and predictable compensation model increases partner profitability
HP will focus the HP PartnerOne compensation model on three key areas to help partners drive incremental revenue and increase profitability.
“Core Compensation” aligned to membership status
Growth in new business revenue opportunities
Targeted products and services sales incentives

“Core Compensation” enhancements include the removal of gates and caps, enabling qualifying partners to begin earning rebates from their first sale and giving them access to unlimited earning potential

In addition, HP is now listing new competitive rebate rates for each HP PartnerOne level in the HP PartnerOne Compensation Matrix, which can be accessed through the partner portal.

Intuitive membership structure provides path for growth
HP is introducing new HP PartnerOne membership levels—Platinum, Gold, Silver and Business Partner—which will be consistent across HP business units and available in all regions. This new structure offers greater partner differentiation and is simpler and more intuitive for end customers. Partners also will find it easier to identify opportunities and differentiate their businesses in the marketplace.

As an added benefit for partners, HP will actively brand the highest partnership levels in end-user customer marketing campaigns.

Streamlined certification process simplifies specialization requirements
Partners with higher numbers of HP ExpertOne certified sales and presales professionals are better positioned to close more deals. In order to simplify the certification process, HP has cut in half the number of technical certifications and created role-based certifications that require significantly less time out of office for individuals enrolled in these courses. For example, the number of technical certifications in the HP Enterprise Group has been reduced from 44 to 22 and the number of exams required to obtain an Accredited Technical Professional (ATP) Server certification will drop by 80 percent in 2014, compared to 2013.(1)

The new process also maintains HP’s high standards of competency for each Specialization and builds upon partners’ existing certification investments.

Enhanced Partner Portal for quicker access to tools and content
HP partners also will begin to see updated HP branding and an improved partner portal navigation experience requiring fewer clicks to access important information, resources and tools. These upgrades will go live beginning in early 2014.

“HP understands that in order for our partners to grow their business and remain competitive we need to evolve how we work together,” said Thiyagu Letchumanan, Managing Director, Hewlett-Packard Malaysia. “We’re making the PartnerOne program simpler, more profitable and more predictable with a predictable compensation model, a consistent membership structure as well as a streamlined certification process.”

Availability
HP PartnerOne enhancements are available beginning Nov. 1, in most countries. Partner portal enhancements will go live in early 2014.

HP's premier EMEA client event, HP Discover, takes place Dec. 10-12 in Barcelona, Spain.

AccessData Announces Interoperability with HP ArcSight to Deliver Accelerated Incident Response to Security Threats

SINGAPORE – (October 1, 2013) – AccessData Group, a leading provider of digital forensics, cyber-security, and e-discovery software, today announced a new solution that operates with the HP ArcSight platform and designed to deliver accelerated incident response to security threats. This new solution allows bi-directional communication between AccessData’s Cyber Intelligence & Response Technology (CIRT) platform with the HP ArcSight Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platform.

“We know that HP is committed to continual innovation in cyber security, and this new solution enables our customers to stay ahead of new threats,” says Chad Gailey, vice president, Worldwide Channel Sales at AccessData.  “This solution has already demonstrated success out of the gate, with early sales to both a multi-national defense organization and a Fortune 100 consumer packaged goods company.”

The high level of interoperability between the CIRT platform and HP ArcSight SIEM answers the critical need for more streamlined and holistic incident response and faster response times in the face of advanced persistent threats, sophisticated hacking attacks, and constantly evolving malware.

CIRT extends the functionality of the HP ArcSight SIEM platform by providing three key functions. First, it delivers holistic rapid response by integrating the critical capabilities required for comprehensive root cause analysis – full packet capture network forensics, advanced computer forensics (hard drive, memory, and peripherals), malware triage, and enterprise-wide auditing for compromise assessment. Second, CIRT enables real-time collaboration among all security and response teams; and third, it provides automated batch remediation; so, organizations are able to eradicate threats, not just contain them.

The interoperability of CIRT and HP ArcSight SIEM is unprecedented because users are able to execute operations, view analysis, and launch remediation operations from within either platform interface – quickly and efficiently. The response operations can be customized and complex. Furthermore, unlike other solutions, the automated response is holistic. It is not only endpoint analysis or a combination of watered down network and endpoint forensics. It allows organizations to gather actionable intelligence very quickly and provides real remediation.

“To combat the growing number of cyber threats, organizations today must take a holistic approach to security,  one that provides broad visibility into vulnerabilities and real-time capabilities to stop threats in their tracks,” said Frank Mong, vice president and general manager, Solutions, Enterprise Security Products, HP. “We want to ensure our customers have seamless access to best-of-breed technology to address every stage of a potential cyber threat, and this new interoperability with AccessData is a flagship example of this program at work.”
