54馬來西亞MSC公司獲全球標準證書

54 MSC Malaysia Status Companies ReceiveGlobal Standards Certification

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – November 5, 2007 – The MSC Malaysia Capability Development Programme implemented by Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) in 2004 has seen 54 MSC Malaysia-status companies receiving global-standards certifications in 2007. An additional ten companies are currently undergoing the respective training and will soon join the local league of global standards certifications.

The MSC status companies were conferred with international status and they comprised of 11 new companies certified in software processing improvement, 10 in software testing, 1 in information security and 3 in organisation quality management system. In addition, 29 companies with their respective employees received certification in project management.

MDeC will host the MSC Malaysia Capability Development Programme Achievement Awards 2007 in One World Hotel, Petaling Jaya, on December 13, 2007 to celebrate the success of these companies. At the same time, the custodian of the MSC Malaysia initiative and promoter and developer of ICT in Malaysia, MDeC will use this platform to encourage more companies to strive for such globally-recognised certifications.

MDeC Capacity Development Division Vice President Ng Wan Peng said, “There are 1,900 MSC Malaysian status companies today. MDeC is here to create opportunities and assist these companies penetrate into international markets, such as China, India and the Middle East but they must demonstrate to these markets that they are ready and capable. This is effectively communicated through international certifications”.

“This is the beginning of the road to make Malaysia a regional ICT hub and Malaysian ICT companies internationally competitive”, she concluded.

The UK-based National Outsourcing Association selected Malaysia as Offshore Destination of the Year for 2006 and there are currently some 90 companies including global names such as Dell, Satyam, HSBC, Shell and BMW, housing their shared services and outsourcing activities in Malaysia, creating an industry that generated close to RM3billion in revenue last year.

Whether dealing with these multinational companies that are setting up service centres in Malaysia, or going for international markets, Malaysian ICT companies constantly service clients whom are investing in global standards infrastructures. This is why they need to demonstrate full understanding of heterogeneous ICT environments, and credentials, in the form of global-standards certifications, which are paramount to validate their expertise.

The MSC Malaysia Capability Development Programme not only assists companies achieve certifications, participating organisations also enjoy additional benefits from monthly dialogues, seminars, clinics and workshops developed to gear them up to achieve certifications and later ensure business continuity. Upon completion, the successful programme participants are partly reimbursed from the total project cost.

MSC Malaysia companies generated RM14billion in revenue in 2006 and employed more than 57,000 people. The number is expected to increase significantly over the next few years as MDeC continues its aggressive marketing and promotions activities globally.
