Malaysia plays host to MobileMonday Global Summit 2008

KUALA LUMPUR, 27 February 2008 – Organised for the first time outside the founding city of Helsinki, MobileMonday (MoMo) Global Summit 2008 will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 18-22 May 2008. This 4th annual Global Summit will bring together mobile industry visionaries and developers, and is a satellite event in conjunction with the bi-annual World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT 2008).

MoMo, a global community of over 70,000 mobile industry visionaries and developers has generated genuine business alliances through cooperative relationships with mobile operators globally. This coming May, Kuala Lumpur will be a point of convergence for the largest-ever gathering of global leaders in the information communications industry for the WCIT 2008 in which more than 2,500 participants from over 80 countries are expected.

WCIT 2008 is jointly organised by the Multimedia Development (MDeC) and Association of the Computer and Multimedia Industry of Malaysia (PIKOM) and closely supported by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation Malaysia.

“MobileMonday Kuala Lumpur is working very closely with MDeC to make this event a truly global and rewarding experience for Malaysia,” says RamG, founder of MobileMonday Kuala Lumpur.

RamG added that together with the MobileMonday CEO, Mr Jari Tammisto, we are pleased that this convergence will bring together the International Experts in a dynamic setting with our local ICT players.

The MoMo Global Summit will also consist of the Global Peer Awards ceremony. This time around, there will be three categories, early stage companies, emerging companies (founded from 2005 onwards) and academia (university students).

Co-founder and Chairman of MoMo Kuala Lumpur, Dr Arun Kumar, adds, “The academia class is new and reserved solely for University students and recent graduates. This is a huge opportunity not to be missed for those just starting out in the industry.”

MoMo Malaysia, officially launched on 25th April 2006, is the local chapter of MoMo which is the world’s leading mobile community. MoMo Malaysia is a community established for professionals to network among mobile professionals, share ideas as well as business best practices on a monthly basis.
