JARING, KAPERSKY LAB PUSH FOR INTERNET PROTECTION

KUALA LUMPUR -- APRIL 15: JARING Communications has formed a partnership with Kaspersky Lab, the world’s leading developer of secure content management software to protect home users against all forms of malicious software.

Through this partnership, JARING will be the first and the main online store in Malaysia to sell via the Internet, Kaspersky Anti Virus version 7.0 (KAV7.0) and Kaspersky Internet Security version 7.0 (KIS7.0) software.

Founded in 1997, Russian based Kaspersky Lab is an international company which develops, produces and distributes information security solutions that protect against IT security threats, including viruses, spyware, crimeware, hackers, phishing and spam.

Present at the signing ceremony was Dr Mohamed bin Awang Lah, chief executive of JARING Communications and representing Kaspersky Lab was Harry Cheung, Managing Director of Kaspersky Lab Asia Pacific.

Commenting on the partnership, Dr Mohamed bin Awang Lah, said the collaboration would enable JARING subscribers to leverage on Kaspersky’s award winning anti virus and Internet security software, providing the internet users with a complete application intelligent threat management solution.

“We are delighted to collaborate with JARING as our online partner in Malaysia and we note its ability to undertake in a very short time this online store for the Malaysian market.” said Cheung.

“The rising popularity of Internet usage has led to the growth of advanced security threats, against not only to home users, but also to companies, large corporations and government agencies.

“In addition, phising scams and spyware designed to steal confidential information are also on the rise,” said Dr Mohamed.

Malaysian users can download the Kaspersky products from JARING and partners’ websites. For starters, JARING is offering a free trial of licensed Kaspersky products - 6-month trial of Kaspersky® Anti-Virus 7.0 against a normal one month period and 30-day trial of Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0.

Kaspersky® Anti-Virus 7.0 provides users with traditional anti-virus protection based on the latest protection technologies. Internet users can work, communicate, surf the internet and play online games on the computer safely and easily.

The anti-virus comes with, among others, hourly automated database updates, preliminary behaviour analysis and on-going behaviour analysis. It will scan in real-time, emails, internet traffic and files with automatic database updates.

Kaspersky® Internet Security 7.0 on the other hand provides users with the same proven anti-virus protection as Kaspersky Anti-Virus together with additional features including Parental Control, a personal firewall, an anti-spam filter, Privacy Control and more.

It also provides personal firewall with an IDS / IPS system, protection from leaks of confidential data, protection from viruses when using ICQ and other IM clients.

At the signing ceremony, JARING and Kaspersky Lab also announced their collaborative effort to educate Malaysian users on the importance of being protected and secured online at all times.

The initiative is in line with the government’s effort in promoting anti-piracy, secured e-commerce and online lifestyle.
