New MD/CEO for Samsung Malaysia Electronics

Mr Lee Tae Jik has been appointed the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Samsung Malaysia Electronics (SME) Sdn Bhd, the sales and marketing arm of Samsung in Malaysia.

Mr Lee, 51, brings with him over 25 years of experience in Samsung, including 16 years in IT sales and marketing. He was the Vice President of Strategic Marketing for Samsung Electronics’ Storage System Division prior to his new appointment in Kuala Lumpur.

Mr Lee, who replaces Mr Min Yong Ho, has been credited with the success of Samsung SyncMaster LCD monitors, emerging as the world’s No 1 when he was the global head of the Samsung Display Division for two years until February 2003 before his transfer to the Storage System Division.

”It is truly a great honour to be entrusted with this new responsibility in Malaysia. I feel very privileged to succeed Mr Min who has made substantial contributions toward Samsung’s excellent performance during his two-year stint in Malaysia,” said Mr Lee.

Samsung, a global leader in consumer electronics, has made great strides in Malaysia in recent years, emerging as a household name in IT, Audio Visual, home appliances and mobile phones. It is also the No 1 brand in Malaysia for TVs, LCD monitors and a strong No 2 in mobile phones.

Mr Lee is married with two children and is an avid golfer.
