The Padang Kota Damansara area is a green lung amidst the busy township of Kota Damansara. With a forest cover of approximately 10 ha, the area has big potential to support public educational programs. However, the forest need to be further enriched with more local tree species and continuous care to be a plush green recreational spot for the surrounding community.

Some of the trees to be planted include Cengal, Meranti Tembaga and Meranti Rambai Daun as well as indigenous fruit trees such as Kundang, Mentega, Binjai, Keranji, and Rokam. Global Environment Centre (GEC), Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ) and Forestry Department will provide advise and assistance on post planting care and maintenance to the local community groups.

The tree planting event, slated to be held on the 19th of October requires approximately 500 volunteers to plant the tree saplings. As of to date, Canon Goes Green Movement has managed to garner support from some resident associations in Kota Damansara, volunteers and those who registered online at canongoesgreen.com.

In the meantime, the EnvironMENTALS have continued on their path by carrying out their street acts in support for the environment. Videos and photos of their acts can be found on the Canon Goes Green microsite. The EnvironMENTALS would be present at the tree planting ceremony to show their support and display some of their efforts to save the earth.

The tree planting event will not only serve as an environmental activity but as a venue to teach the younger generation about their priceless natural heritage coupled with some entertainment and lots of activities.

"The public can expect some interesting painting, environmental education and face painting activities and of course the highlight of the day, TREE PLANTING. We are looking forward to have the community with us during the culmination of this effort," exclaimed Liew.

Due to the encouraging support, a surprise performance is in store for the public attending the event. A renowned singer who is also a passionate advocate of the environment is expected to croon his way into the hearts of the public and solidify Canon Goes Green Movement green messages.

"In addition, we at Canon would like to urge Malaysians to wear green on the 19th October in support for the environment. Such a collective show of support will do wonders for green efforts such as this," Liew added.
