OMC 2008 Conference galvanizes Outsourcing industry to a USD2 billion market

Petaling Jaya – September 23, 2008 To ensure that the rapidly maturing outsourcing industry in Malaysia hits USD2 billion by 2012, Outsourcing Malaysia is organizing the inaugural Outsourcing Malaysia Conference 2008 (OMC 2008).

OMC is the latest initiative by the country’s foremost outsourcing champion to galvanize the industry to ensure the growth objectives are met. To be held from 11-13 November 2008 at the KL Convention Centre, the conference will bring together strategic thinkers and industry senior executives to share ideas and deliberate on strategies and programs to realise industry’s growth, under the overarching theme, “Outsourcing as a Strategic Imperative.” David Wong, Chairman of Outsourcing Malaysia (OM) believes that OMC 2008’s timing is perfect to capitalize on the outsourcing boom. “Locally, we are at a stage where the industry is maturing and ready to scale up to the next phase. Our SSO sector is growing at twice the global rate of 15% and we have every potential to hit USD$2 billion by 2012. Worldwide, the SSO market is expected to hit US$1.4 trillion by 2009. In order to fully capitalize on this vast goldmine, it is imperative that we raise our game to enhance our global competitiveness.”

He urged senior management, decision makers and strategic advisors from medium and large companies, Multinational Corporations, Governments and Government-Linked Corporations, Shared Services Organizations, Outsourcing Providers and related Organizations and Members of the Academia to take advantage of this conference.

“By taking part in this conference, they are taking an important first step towards grabbing a share of the huge outsourcing pie,” Wong added.

“In order to achieve our target, it is critical that local organizations equip themselves with know-how and execute effective strategies. We have been witnessing the boom for some time already but there has never been any formal platform such as the OMC 2008 that brings together representatives from both government and industry. We are optimistic that OMC 2008 will fast-track the local industry by providing a platform for global visibility to local players and sharing of global best practices by industry leaders.”
An estimated 300 participants are expected to attend the conference, which includes an exciting line-up of keynotes, panel discussions, workshops, networking sessions and an exhibition. Key topics include The Strategic Imperatives of Outsourcing, OM Industry Development Outsourcing in Challenging Times, Leveraging Outsourcing for Effectiveness, Why MSC, Meeting the Human Capital Challenges, Financial Contribution – Outsourcing Perspective and Government and Industry’s Participation – The Way Forward.
Among the industry initiatives that will be deliberated at OMC 2008 are: -
1. Marketing strategies and plans for Malaysian companies
2. HR initiatives to ensure a sustainable talent pool
3. Market growth strategies

Several industry leaders have pledged their support as sponsors, signalling their strong commitment and support for the development of an integrated and sustainable future. At press time, PIKOM, MDeC, Basis Bay, VADS and Cuscapi have confirmed their sponsorship.
Early Bird Discounts will be given to the first 100 delegates who register by 11 October, 2008. The organization also welcomes corporations and government institutions to take part through sponsorship.
