JARING BRINGS CAMPUS-WIDE

Project provides high-speed Internet access through Wi-Fi coverage for the whole campus and benefits 16,500 campus society

BANGI, Dec 10 -- JARING Communications, Malaysia’s pioneer Internet service provider, has completed the infrastructure for a campus wide Wi-Fi facility for residents and staff of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia’s (UKM) residential colleges, enabling access to high-speed wireless Internet connection.

JARING-UKM Wi-Fi project, which rides on an extensive campus-wide multi-gigabits fibre optic network, will have Wi-Fi access points to provide secure, high-speed, 24-hour Internet access both indoor and outdoor throughout the sprawling 1096.29 acre campus.

The colleges include Kolej Burhanuddin Helmi, Kolej Ibrahim Yaakub, Kolej Ungku Omar, Kolej Rahim Kajai, Kolej Aminuddin Baki, Kolej Dato' Onn, Kolej Tun Hussein Onn, Kolej Keris Mas, Kolej Pendita Zaaba, Kolej Ibu Zain, Kolej Idris Al Marbawi, Kolej Tun Dr Ismail and Kolej Tun Syed Nasir.

Other than the residential colleges, JARING also helped to create 15 Wi-Fi hotspots around the campus which include Pusanika, Tun Sri Lanang Library, Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, Faculty of Science and Technology, Faculty Social Sciences and Humanities, Kompleks Bestari, administration building, UKM Health Centre, Faculty of Economics and Business, Faculty of Information Science and Technology, Law Faculty, Faculty of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Education, UKM Mosque.

While the residents of these residential colleges can have access to triple-play Internet service 24-hours, non-residents can access the Internet through a prepaid card which can be topped-up any time.

In UKM, all halls of residence are known as "Kolej" (College). The University also manages a number of off-campus accommodation complexes in the adjacent townships of Bandar Baru Bangi and Kajang as well as Kuala Lumpur.

这项JARING及国大的Wi-Fi计划，以每秒数千兆比特 (multi-gigabits) 的光纤网络上输送，此涵盖1096.29英亩校园的Wi-Fi连接，即使在户内及户外有保障、高速、24小时上网市内和户外无线上网服务。

除了校园宿舍外，JARING还在校园的15个地方设Wi-Fi 热点，其中包括: Pusanika、Tun Sri Lanang图书馆、工程及建筑环境科学系、科学及工艺系、社会科学及人文系、Kompleks Bestari 、行政楼、国大保健中心、经济及商业系、信息科艺系、法律系、回教研究系、教育系及回教堂。

所有住宿学府内的住宿生可享有三合一整合式 (Triple-Play) 24小时的互联网服務，而非住宿生则能够以随时加额的预付卡上网。

在国大所有的宿舍称为“学院”（Kolej），除此以外，院方也管理几个非学院的宿舍中心，分别落在万宜临近的城镇、加影和吉隆坡。
