Penang Adventist Hospital speeds up financial decision making with SAS

PENANG, 17th December, 2008 – Penang Adventist Hospital (PAH), a not-for-profit healthcare provider has today announced that it has invested in SAS® Financial Management Solution to help speed up its financial and budgeting processes to ensure it continues to give the best healthcare services while keeping medical fees at an affordable rate.

Speaking at the signing ceremony with SAS Malaysia today, Dato’ Teddric Jon Mohr, President and Chief Executive Officer of Penang Adventist Hospital said SAS Financial Management will also be used to enhance planning and budgeting functionalities to address detailed business requirements to meet present and future needs. Prior to acquiring SAS Financial Management Solution, PAH’s finance department has been doing its financial planning and budgeting process manually, which were very extensive and time-consuming. Many of their key resources had to be locked down on a regular basis to go through the tedious planning and budgeting process cycle.

“The SAS Financial Management Solution will not only cut time and energy needed for budgetary and planning, but with the projected increase in business transactions volumes, our finance department will be able to act as ‘strategic advisor’ in the administration of PAH,” remarked Mohr.

The PAH management also liked the fact that SAS has a strong local presence in Malaysia to work collaboratively with its customers, both directly and through its channels’ partners. Selatan Systems Advisory, the strategic channel partner for SAS in Malaysia’s northern region played a key role in servicing and helping to meet PAH’s expectations and requirements.
Despite being a not-for-profit hospital, PAH always believes in investing in the best; be it in healthcare systems or medical equipments while keeping medical fees at an affordable rate.
“PAH chose SAS because of its advanced analytics and Business Intelligence (BI) solution for healthcare industry, domain knowledge, industry-specific customer reference in Malaysia and globally, and prudent partnership program. We are happy to be signing and sealing the agreement with them today,” said Mohr.
Jimmy Cheah, Managing Director of SAS Malaysia said, “With the challenging times, healthcare providers are increasingly looking for ways to reduce expenses and improve operational effectiveness. We are honored to be selected by PAH for this collaboration as it is a testament to SAS’ capability and commitment in meeting customers’ expectations.”
