Pitney Bowes Strengthens Presence in Malaysia

Reinforces Aggressive Expansion Plan for the Asia Pacific and Middle East (APME) Region with Opening of Office in Kuala Lumpur

KUALA LUMPUR, December 16, 2008 – Pitney Bowes Inc. (NYSE:PBI), the world’s leading mailstream technology company, today announced that it will be strengthening its presence in Malaysia with the opening of an office in Kuala Lumpur.

The new 2,105 sq ft office, located at Plaza Pantai, will be a strategic hub for the Malaysian market providing a comprehensive suite of mailstream hardware and software solutions, and services to Pitney Bowes’ customers in Malaysia which currently include Pos Malaysia Berhad and Efficient Mailcom. This follows the completion of the acquisition of the Pitney Bowes business division of CL Computers, its distributor in Malaysia and Singapore, early this year. Eric-Yves Mahe, President of Pitney Bowes for the Asia Pacific and Middle East region said, “The world average mail items per capita for the Asia Pacific region is only 12.5 as compared to the world average of 66.7 which presents a significant opportunity. With business process outsourcing becoming increasingly popular and the growth in direct marketing as a means of communication in Malaysia, we see strong opportunity to further expand the usage of franking machines as well as our other Mailstream solutions like inserters, folders and software technologies, especially amongst the SMEs and SOHOs in this market.”

Added Mahe, “With a direct presence, we will be able to strengthen our relationship with customers and channel partners, and rapidly expand our presence in this market in line with our goal of doubling sales for this region within the next three years.”

Pitney Bowes currently employs more than 1,000 people in 11 countries and has a customer base of more than 100,000 large and SME businesses in the APME region. The regional headquarters for the APME region was established in Singapore in October 2007.

Pitney Bowes Malaysian office will be helmed by George Ow, who has been recently appointed to the role of General Manager, South East Asia.
