Save the environment and enjoy savings for new LCD TVs

To help save the environment and to further promote greater awareness about glass recycling, Samsung Malaysia is offering up to RM800 for each old TV to individuals buying a new 40-inch LCD TV.

The CRT TVs will be sent to the Samsung Corning (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd plant in Negeri Sembilan and the glass panels (of the old TVs) will be recycled to produce new TVs and monitors for the global market.

For new LCD TV buyers, it will be a win-win proposition as they can enjoy additional savings when buying a new Samsung flat panel TV and have little to worry about the logistics when it comes to disposing off their old and bulky TVs.

“The old TVs will help overcome Samsung Corning’s long standing problem of sourcing sufficient recyclable materials locally,” said Samsung Malaysia Electronics (SME) Sdn Bhd’s Director of Consumer Electronics Sales & Marketing, Mr Jo Sang Ho.

“We hope to generate some 400 tonnes of glass from this campaign and it will go a long way towards enhancing greater awareness about glass recycling in Malaysia,” he added.

The 40-inch models of the Samsung Series 4 and Series 6 LCD TVs with recommended retail prices of RM4,299 (RM3,799 after the rebate) and RM5,499 (RM4,699 after the rebate) respectively are available as part of the recycling campaign.

Samsung Corning, which is the world’s No 1 producer of glasses for TVs, manufactures funnels and glass panels which are core components for the manufacturing of TVs and monitors.

Individuals are advised to contact the Samsung Careline 1800 88 9999 or visit the Samsung Malaysia website www.samsung.com/my for more details about the recycling campaign.
