Technology Innovation, Product Refresh and New Markets

Intel Executives Announce Channel Members Cutting-Edge Technology, Strategic Programs and World-Class Training to Sustain Channel Growth

INTEL SOLUTIONS SUMMIT, Gold Coast, April 29, 2009 – At Intel’s largest annual channel customer conference for the Asia-Pacific region, Intel executives voiced a common theme in keynote addresses today -- that the company is focused more than ever to drive product innovation and develop new markets to help ignite market growth for channel partners in 2009, even in difficult economic times.

Steve Dallman, Intel VP of Sales and Marketing Group and General Manager of the Worldwide Reseller Channel Organization, was one of the executives speaking at the APAC Intel Solutions Summit (ISS) where over 300 premier resellers attended to receive updates on cutting-edge technology, initiatives and obtain world-class training to help grow their business. Giving high praise, Dallman said, “The Channel has led in new technology transitions such as the ramp of 45nm process technology-based products, Quad-Core and Intel® Core™ i7 processors. I have confidence that this trend will continue with 32nm process technology expected later this year.”

Dallman said there are compelling reasons for end users to upgrade technology that presents business opportunities for resellers. “Thirty-seven percent of today’s notebooks and sixty percent of PC desktops are greater than three years old,” Dallman said. “This presents a great opportunity for resellers to provide technology upgrades with statistics showing that support costs for PCs over three years old rise by up to 50 percent and new PCs can do twice as much as a three-year old system.”

Dallman also emphasized that government stimulus packages are the largest government spending in history. Many actions will stimulate the economy, however smart spending will have long-term and sustainable economic impact. Intel is investing in 32nm manufacturing technology and product R&D to emerge stronger and to provide best-in-class products and solutions to our customers and partners.

Opportunity through APAC Government Stimulus Programs
Navin Shenoy, VP of Sales and Marketing and general manager of Intel Asia Pacific, gave examples in his keynote of channel partners taking part in government economic stimulus programs across the region. He noted that governments recognize the importance of information and communication technologies in tackling important social and economic imperatives and in driving 21st Century national competitiveness. Shenoy also emphasized that Intel is committed to delivering innovative channel solutions and programs.

Shenoy stated, "Our channel customers are more important than ever. Their local expertise and ability to respond quickly is an important advantage in these uncertain times. I believe our channel has an excellent opportunity to work with their respective governments on economic stimulus and infrastructure programs."

Win Big with Small Form Factor Desktops and Stylish, Affordable Nettops
According to IDC, small form factor designs currently account for up to 35% of the desktop market and is projected to grow to 44% by 2011. Saying that small form factor desktop PCs present a huge opportunity for the channel, Intel announced two new motherboards designed to help fuel the growth of nettops and affordable small form factor computing.

The Intel® Desktop Board D945GSEJT features the Intel® Atom™ Processor and is designed for building innovation around stylish and affordable nettops. The Intel® Desktop Board DG41MJ Classic Series supports low power (65W) Intel® Core™2 Quad processors and Intel® Core™2 Duo processors and will offer users a space saving desktop solution that meets everyday multimedia needs.

Local Manufacturing & Branded Mobile Solutions
Emphasizing how customers in APAC can expand business with their own branded mobile solutions, Dallman stated, “Channel OEMs have a great opportunity to differentiate product offerings by using the latest Intel® Mobile Technologies coming out in 2009 and 2010 with new, ultra-thin notebook designs.”

Also discussed was an upcoming mobile platform codenamed “Calpella” and based on the latest Nehalem microarchitecture, 32nm processor technology and featuring Intel® Turbo Boost Technology. There will be over 30 different SKUs available to channel partners. Intel continues to work with the industry to provide products that can be used by local OEMs to grow their business.

Building Business Through Customized Server Solutions
In the keynote address, Intel executives also emphasized how Intel servers drive new opportunities and markets through the best performance, virtualization and efficiency. For example, the new 45nm process technology-based Nehalem platform has an amazing eight-month payback. Also pointed out was how new, 45nm Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® Processors offer compelling benefits over older, single-core servers with gains of nine times the performance and reducing annual costs by as much as 90 percent. Additionally, ESAA-certified Modular Servers can enable quick solution deployment whilst enterprise SSDs enables new levels of performance and energy efficiency.

Intel Enhances Sales and Marketing Tools for Resellers
In an ongoing effort to provide resellers world-class marketing tools to help generate sales and business growth, Intel announced an enhancement to the Intel® Reseller Center (IRC) for Sales Content. Intel® Technology Provider is now a part of the IRC making it a one-stop shop for all Channel partner members across APAC. Its primary role is to help partners build, market and sell systems based on Intel products. It contains a wealth of member-specific information including benefit updates, product information, sales & marketing tools, promotions and campaigns, training and offers a “live chat tool.”

Also announced was the Intel Premier Locator Tool, an exclusive benefit available to Intel Channel Premier Members to help promote their companies’ solutions, products and location.
