PIKOM & MOSTI CALLS FOR STRONG PRESENCE OF MALAYSIAN BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY AT THE INAUGURAL PIKOM LEADERSHIP SUMMIT (PLS) 2009.

Petaling Jaya, June 1, 2009 - PIKOM, The National ICT Association of Malaysia, as the organizer of the inaugural PIKOM Leadership Summit (PLS) 2009 scheduled from 20-21 July, 2009 expects to see a strong presence of business and industry leaders from Malaysia, as this prestigious event offers enormous business and networking opportunities especially during the current economic and financial crisis. PLS 2009 is in conjunction with the PIKOM National ICT Month (NIM) held from July 20 – August 20 2009, which is co-organized by Ministry of Science Innovation and Technology (MOSTI).

The summit includes an extensive two day program of thought leadership content built around multiple presentations and panel discussions. It will bring together under one roof industry leaders, thought gurus, analysts, Government decision makers, academia and IT users from across Malaysia. The summit themed “ICT - Enabling New Success" will journey through two key issues - one for each day - to completely transform the experience for delegates.

Day 1 will be a Business Summit centered on leadership skills required in these turbulent times, the elements of ICT’s contribution to business success, and the issues and challenges pertaining to pervasive computerization. The summit will close with a networking cocktail reception. Day 2 will be the Technology Summit devoted to outlining the road ahead for businesses to keep up with the latest ICT transformational trends. The discussions will bring together speakers talking about how companies can Step up and Step on it, and define emerging technology models, strategies that need to be architected and executed by ICT organizations to succeed in the dynamic, connected world.

“As the local ICT industry gears up to double up from RM 40 billion in 2007 to RM 80 billion by FY 2012, the summit will be used as a platform to discuss the new industry drivers and enablers that will take the sector forward. The aim will also be to develop a platform where Malaysian companies, customers and analysts can come together and define the strategies and challenges for the next wave, and assist the Malaysian business community to chart the way forward and seek ways to ride out the current global economic woes.” said David Wong Nan Fay, PIKOM Chairman.

“The inaugural summit comes at a time where local business leaders need to forge newer alliances and cooperation to move ahead. It may be a financial or economic crisis but therein lays the opportunity to survive and emerge even stronger than before.” said CJ Ang, President PIKOM.

“Current issues of the global financial crisis as well as challenges to the local business community will be highlighted at the summit. Implications and impacts of these challenges to the ICT industry and also the economic implications of the economic climate are also on the agenda of the PIKOM Leadership Summit 2009", added CJ Ang.

PIKOM wants to see a strong representation and participation from the Malaysian business community, the government sector, trade associations and chambers of commerce. Such representation shall go a long way in paving a roadmap for adoption of concerted strategies that will help create value for Malaysian business entities.

PIKOM is expecting a good turnout from across the country and from all sectors of the economy representing leading companies and industries to confirm their participation. 500 participants are expected to attend the Summit.
