60 local talents get together with DiGi for a good cause
SHAH ALAM, 30 September 2011: In the spirit of the upcoming Deepavali, DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (“DiGi”) got together with the local Indian community members and celebrities to create an avenue, in the form of an exclusive Tamil song, for DiGi subscribers to do their bit in contributing to the education of the underprivileged children.
Entitled “Oli Peruvom”, which means “Share the Light”, the song was produced with the support of 60 local music artistes, actors and actresses, TV hosts, DJs, sports personalities, journalists, community leaders as well as children from local Tamil schools. Available in 3 specially produced CallerTunesTM, DiGi customers can now subscribe to them at RM1 per song/month.
All proceeds from the CallerTunesTM downloads will be channelled to The Education, Welfare and Research Foundation (EWRF), a national charitable organisation dedicated to assisting the Indian community, that includes conducting English education camps for less privileged schoolchildren from Tamil schools in Malaysia.
Albern Murty, DiGi's Head of Marketing, said “Music has always been an integral part of DiGi’s offerings. This time it is extra special as we are able to bring together 60 talented individuals to come as one voice for a worthy cause. DiGi’s contribution in this ensures that we reach out to customers at grassroots level in ways meaningful to them.
“I also want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of the participating celebrities for their time and commitment in towards the success of this effort. This admirable effort serves as a great inspiration for all Malaysians to come forward and do their part for our children’s education.”
DiGi customers can subscribe to the three CallerTunesTM from now until 23 November 2011 by sending SHARE to 2000. The shortcodes for the other two CallerTunesTM are available also at www.digi.com.my/sharethelight or http://www.facebook.com/DiGi.ShareTheLight.OliPeruvom.
All the artistes and volunteers also shot a special music video together with the children and is available for viewing at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8btns_QxkOY.
