At IBC 2011, Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) will demonstrate how its End-to-Endless TV vision and solutions help content owners to maximize the value of their content and enable operators to deploy multi-platform delivery networks that enable blended multi-screen consumer TV experiences. In addition to announcing new products that further enhance its award-winning portfolio, Ericsson (Booth 1.D61) will use IBC to demonstrate its clear leadership in advanced video compression, content management and workflow, back office and delivery solutions, internet video caching and distribution, and its rich, open suite of enablers for creating unique consumer experiences.
“Our focus is to work closely with content owners and TV service providers to share our technology depth, industry insight and consumer understanding and to be a true partner; the “change agent”, for the future direction of TV,” said Staffan Pehrson, Head of Solution Area TV, Ericsson. “At IBC our TV and network experts will be on hand to discuss how our next generation solutions meet the multi-screen challenges of today and enable the multi-platform, hybrid delivery networks on which to build the connected media landscape of tomorrow.”
Demonstrations at Ericsson’s booth will show how its solutions are meeting the challenges presented by the combined demands of ‘consumer, content and networks’; not only in the acquisition and processing of high quality content but also in the roll-out of infrastructure, and the management and efficient delivery of large volumes of video, media and audio across multiple platforms to multiple devices.
Ø Maximizing the value of content
Ericsson will show a number of solutions that enable content owners to capture, exchange, distribute and process their assets, and to give consumers the content they want on all the devices they own. Demonstrations will include the Watchpoint Content Management System, the IBC debut of Ericsson’s Voyager II DSNG (Digital Satellite News Gathering) with new JPEG-2000 format capability and the Multi-format Contribution Encoder and professional receivers.
Ø Efficient Networks
Ericsson TV and Media network delivery solutions enable media assets to be shared and delivered to consumers, in the highest possible quality and in the lowest possible bandwidth. Visitors to Ericsson’s IBC booth can see a range of TV network solutions including the new combined hardware and software solutions for linear multi-screen TV processing. See ‘Ericsson delivers new approach to linear multi-screen TV’.
IBC will also see the debut of Ericsson’s Media Delivery Management System, a new generation of on-demand back office platform, as well demonstrations of the Ericsson Media Delivery Network.
Ø Maximizing the consumer value
Ericsson’ solutions are focused on maximizing the value for the consumer by enabling TV service providers to achieve the most competitive and compelling set of end user experiences in their market making them the most competitive, and minimizing operator churn. Ericsson’s ConsumerLab research – see ‘Ericsson presents TV & Video consumer trends report 2011’ - gives unique and detailed insight into these needs.
Ericsson’s IBC demonstrations will include the industry’s most complete Multi-screen TV solution which enables the richest, blended consumer experiences on all devices, covering linear TV, on-demand, social interaction, search and advanced interactions between the multiple devices. The award winning Ericsson Media Connect (formerly named the IPTV Remote) will also be demonstrated at IBC, a companion screen in the home to search, browse, consume and control content and experiences, and enable social interaction with others, demonstrating Ericsson’s thought leadership in consumer experiences.
