Addressing online child safety proactively in tandem with Internet For All agenda

DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd ("DiGi") is taking a proactive step in ensuring the younger generation is protected from harmful elements online. As part of DiGi's on-going campaign, Internet For All, it is advocating initiatives to address online child safety to the younger generation.

Together with the world's largest dedicated software security company, McAfee, Inc., DiGi is offering family-friendly and secure internet experience through McAfee Internet Security and McAfee(r) Family Protection. As part of our launch promotion, DiGi Broadband customers are eligible for an exclusive discount. Customers will enjoy two complimentary months with their subscription when they purchase either of the McAfee products via the DiGi Online Store.

DiGi's Head of Broadband, Mohd Nazeem Mohd Nasir, says, "We truly feel that it is very critical that measures are taken to educate the younger generation about the many possible dangers found online. While we do not want to curb their joy and enthusiasm for all things digital, it makes sense to us, as parents ourselves, to ensure their online experience is safe and secure from undesirable elements. We, at DiGi believe that as a responsible corporate citizen, our product offerings have to be more family-friendly, so that kids can stay safe and that online learning stays fun for everyone.

Nazeem adds, "The solution available to our customers allows parents the flexibility of setting control parameters to prevent exposure to objectionable content such as inappropriate videos and explicit music lyrics while still providing the kids access to appropriate ones. As a parent, you can choose to be notified via e-mail if any access to inappropriate content is attempted."

On the product partnership, McAfee's Consumer Mobile & Small Business Manager for South East Asia, Ben Wark, explains, "We are happy to be working with DiGi, which has one of the fastest growing customer base for mobile internet and mobile broadband in Malaysia. Their focus to provide a safe internet experience for children of all ages is very much in line with McAfee's mission. DiGi customers will have peace of mind with our security solutions as they are designed to provide fast, easy set-up so they can monitor their children's internet experience without stifling their online interests."

In conjunction with the launch, Mia Sara, Malaysia's youngest acting sensation, has been chosen to be ambassador of DiGi's family-friendly internet ad campaign. The six-year old personality has been an avid Internet user since she was five. She will be starring in an infomercial, among other activities, to promote online child safety and the importance of parental control measures.

Available only on DiGi Online Store, the McAfee security and safety solutions are now available for a special promotional offer -- customers will enjoy two months of complimentary online security or safety subscription in addition to the 12-month subscription period for all purchases. DiGi Broadband customers need only pay from as low as RM5.70 per month or an annual subscription of RM68 for McAfee Family Protection license. McAfee Internet Security is available from as low as RM7.30 per month or RM88 per year.
