Lexmark brings industry leaders together for first “Print Less. Save More” summit

Malaysian companies discover how to save up to 40 per cent on printing costs

Kuala Lumpur, 1 December 2011: Lexmark recently held its first “Print Less. Save More” summit to educate Malaysian organisations about how to achieve great savings on printing costs. The workshop and networking session in at The Gardens Hotel and Residences revealed the hidden costs of document output that affect most companies. It introduced smart solutions that companies can implement to streamline workflow for improved productivity and more savings, and discussed practices that other companies are adopting to reduce capital expenses and better manage operating costs.

Hosted by Larry Leow, Acting County Manager for Lexmark Malaysia, the event was attended by senior IT personnel from 17 companies across various industries. Also present were George Ang and Jamie Atherton from Lexmark Asia Pacific.

Huge cost savings and greening opportunities revealed
According to Leow:
• Know the importance of having managed print output. A system that can monitor printing activity and identify potential cost savings can achieve savings of up to 40 per cent.
• Wastage is more common than you think. As many as 67% of organisations have unmanaged print output. Worse, in an indiscriminate printing environment, as many as 1 in 6 pages is discarded unread.
• Less expenditure on printing resources = less expenditure of company revenue = more profit!
• It’s easier than ever to go green. Track printing output down to the last sheet to control wastage. Companies can even reward prudent use of printing resources to motivate green behaviour.
• Keep in mind Lexmark’s Managed Print Solutions cost savings philosophy: The lowest cost per page is the page that was never printed.

An eye-opener for participants
One of the participants said, “Many organisations also do not realise that other than the wastage of printing supplies, additional wastage that can occur, especially in companies that use old printers due to the legacy system, include the cost of repairs during frequent equipment breakdown and loss of productivity hours during equipment down time.”

Many of the summit’s participants were surprised that they were not alone with their printing woes, as other companies from the same industry and beyond had also experienced the same issues.

“Lexmark’s summit today is a great event for introducing good printing solutions. Many of us had our eyes opened about the volume of savings that can be achieved by good management of printing resources within a company. Lexmark’s system is ideal for implementation in any company,” he added.

The summit ended with a dinner together with the Lexmark Malaysia team, representatives from Lexmark Singapore and members of Perceptive Concept’s team from Australia.
