Dagang Net’s zakat contribution benefits the needy Charity bazaar organised by staff raises funds for charity

KUALA LUMPUR, 14 March 2012 – In fulfilling one of the Islamic pillars as a caring and responsible corporate citizen, electronic business solutions service provider Dagang Net Technologies Sdn Bhd (Dagang Net) has made a zakat (tithe) contribution on its annual business profit for 2011 recently.

During a brief ceremony in Petaling Jaya last Saturday, Dagang Net Chief Executive Officer Zulina Mohammed Salleh presented the company’s zakat contribution totaling RM53,000 that was directly distributed to selected charitable organisations eligible for zakat.Around 100 children and students from education and dakwah institution Yayasan Sofa of Negeri Sembilan, Rumah Amal Ummul Qura in Bukit Beruntung and the Principal of Sekolah Agama Rakyat Darul Muhajirin in Taman Selasih Batu Caves were treated as special guests at the event that was also held to commemorate the Maulidur Rasul celebration.

Zulina said: “As a responsible and caring corporate organisation, this is our small contribution in sharing the success and profits that we have achieved all this while. We are grateful for the hard work and dedication by our fellow employees at Dagang Net that has produced very encouraging results for the company. This will be a morale booster for us all to work harder in realizing the set goals and projections.”

At the same event, a total of RM1,492 raised from a recent charity bazaar organised by Dagang Net employees on 9 March 2012 at its head office located in Bangsar South here was also presented to selected bodies.

Zulina added: “The programme became even more meaningful with the involvement of our fellow colleagues at Dagang Net in organising charity projects such as the charity bazaar to raise funds. My sincere thanks and appreciation goes to them for all their effort and hard work. I truly hope the spirit of oneness and unity amongst members of Dagang Net will be enhanced so we can continue to assist the less privileged members of the society.”

“With the firm belief that welfare starts from home, we also ensured that a portion of the contribution goes to Dagang Net colleagues who are in need of assistance. This includes prizes for employees’ children who excelled in education as well as assistance for single parents,” explained Zulina.

One of the beneficiary organisations of Dagang Net’s zakat contribution is Yayasan Sofa of Negeri Sembilan that is involved in education and dakwah. The foundation’s reach include primary and secondary schools, Kolej Islam As Sofa and Darul Quran Wal Hadith. Also in the pipeline are the establishment of Universiti Al Azhar Malaysia and Universiti As Sofa.

The Ummul Qura Welfare Home in Bukit Beruntung is a home for underprivileged children while Sekolah Agama Rakyat Darul Muhajirin in Taman Selasih Batu Caves provides teaching in Fardhu Ain studies.
