Dr. Kaizad Heerjee, Chief Executive Officer of U Mobile said, “With the new store, we are looking to provide our customers greater convenience and access to our products and services, allowing them to enjoy all the benefits of being a U Mobile subscriber. Customers have always been our utmost priority and this initiative too will allow us to hear more from our customers, understand their needs and challenges, and foster closer relationships.”
“This is also parallel to our three-pronged strategy, which is to broaden our network coverage and infrastructure, offer innovative products and services to build our brand and extend our reach through traditional and non-traditional distribution channels,” he added.
The telco made its presence felt during the opening ceremony of its first outlet in Malacca when an army of U Mobile promoters, wearing orange-coloured wigs, sunglasses, T-shirts and clasping orange-coloured U Mobile flags, marched the streets of Taman Melaka Raya. Accompanying the ‘orange army’ was a troop of lion dancers, who formed a mini parade within the area.
Officiating the ceremony was Dr. Kaizad who was accompanied by Alex Tan, General Manager of Channel & Distribution of U Mobile; Kevin Yip, Head of Device & Branch Operations of U Mobile and Michael Mah, Head of Sales of U Mobile. They placed flags on the floor stands, signifying Malacca is officially U Mobile territory. An explosion of confetti was then launched and a lion dance performance followed, which added a celebratory mood to the new store opening.
Customers were invited to join the eventful celebration at the store and treated with special promotions and rewards. Four units of HTC Sensation XE were given away to customers who attended the opening ceremony during the lucky draw sessions.
In addition, customers who registered for a postpaid plan plus a supplementary line were awarded with a free ZTE F116 mobile phone worth RM249. The first 20 customers who subscribed to the telco’s postpaid or prepaid plans were given a limited edition Dragon-shaped thumb drive courtesy of U Mobile. Limited edition BlackBerry tumblers were also given away to the first 25 customers who downloaded the free tumbler coupon from U Mobile’s Facebook page.
