VMware Appoints New General Manager for Southeast Asia

Jon Robertson to drive VMware’s strategic direction and expand market development in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam

KUALA LUMPUR, April 20, 2012 — VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), the global leader in virtualization and cloud infrastructure, today announced the appointment of Jon T. Robertson to the role of general manager, VMware Southeast Asia.

Jon will oversee all aspects of VMware’s virtualization and cloud computing business in the region, including strategic planning, business development, sales and channels as well as the alignment of key functions such as services, finance and marketing.

“Our business in the region has grown significantly in recent years, and we are confident that Jon will lead this diverse and dynamic set of markets to a new era of growth. Working closely with our regional and in-country teams, Jon will drive business transformation through IT transformation for our customers and deepen the focus on our partner community to further solidify our leadership position in Southeast Asia,” said Andrew Dutton, senior vice president and general manager, VMware Asia Pacific & Japan.

This is Jon’s sixth year with VMware, and he joins the Southeast Asia organization from VMware K.K. in Japan where he was vice president, Field Operations across all industries. During his tenure in Japan, he played an instrumental role in growing the virtualization and cloud computing community.

Jon has more than 20 years of technology experience in the Asia Pacific and Japan region. Before joining VMware, he held senior positions at EMC, SAP and M3i in the region.

Married with a 3-year-old daughter, Canadian-born Jon speaks fluent Japanese, French and English, and holds a BA in Economics from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
