Intel Involved Matching Grant Program Cashes In Goodwill

Intel Involved Volunteers Raises approximately RM588,000 to benefit 47 Schools and NGOs

• Approximately RM588,000.00 in Intel Foundation matching grant was disbursed amongst 47 organisations, including schools and local NGOs under the Intel Involved Matching Grant Program.
• The Intel Foundation in Malaysia has raised volunteer matching grants from USD4.00 to USD5.00 for every hour contributed by Intel Involved Volunteers to IIMGP beneficiairies.

GEORGE TOWN, June 14, 2012 – Intel Malaysia today disbursed over RM588,000.00 to 47 organisations including schools and local NGOs under the Intel Involved Matching Grant Program in a ceremony at Intel Penang. The amount was raised by Intel Foundation to match the hours contributed by Intel Involved volunteers throughout 2011.

Speaking at the ceremony, Robin Martin, Vice President of Intel Corporation’s Technology Manufacturing Group and Managing Director of Intel Malaysia said, “Intel Malaysia is committed to enhancing the quality of life in the communities in which we live and work. It heartens me tremendously to see my colleagues pitching in time and energy into enriching the local community through skills-based activities like teaching math and science, basic computing skills and entrepreneurship.”(left-right) –

Through the Intel Involved Matching Grant Program (IIMGP), Intel Malaysia employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talent to qualified non-profit and non-governmental organizations, in addition to schools. Since its inception in 2005, Intel Foundation in Malaysia has disbursed approximately RM4,000,000.00 in funds to its beneficiaries for various projects and this amounts to over 370,000 in volunteer hours by Intel employees in Malaysia.

“Last year, over RM588,000.00 was raised with the Intel Foundation matching USD4.00 for every volunteer hour contributed by our Intel Involved volunteers. From this year onwards, the Intel Foundation has committed to raising the matching grant to USD5.00 for every volunteer hour contributed.” said Martin. “It is our hope that this commitment will go a long way towards improving the quality of life as well as the facilities of our IIMGP beneficiaries for a long time to come.”Robin Martin, Managing Director of Intel Malaysia with 47 beneficiaries including schools and local NGOs under the Intel Involved Matching Grant Program.

Intel Malaysia has long established a stellar track record of corporate citizenship in its efforts among the community. In November 2007, Intel Malaysia was awarded the inaugural Prime Minister’s CSR Award to in the Community and Social Development Category and in 2009 for the Environment Category, with Honorable Mentions in Education and Workplace Practices.

Earlier this year, Intel Malaysia announced the “1K: I’m In” campaign, a community initiative also under the Intel Involved Matching Grant Program (IIMGP), in conjunction with Intel Malaysia’s 40th year anniversary celebrations. Through this campaign, departments across Intel Malaysia are encouraged to volunteer a minimum of 1,000 hours to each school that it adopts.
