World`s largest E-Sports festival and tournament kicks off from 7-9 September 2012 in Kuala Lumpur
Kuala Lumpur, 6 September, 2012– Samsung Malaysia Electronics, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, today announced the world’s largest e-Sports festival, the World Cyber Games Asian Championship 2012, which will be held together with the World Cyber Games Malaysia National Final 2012.The three-day event of adrenaline-filled action offers teams and individuals the opportunity to battle it out to claim victory of championship titles, representing Malaysia at an Asia-wide level – culminating at the Grand Final in Kunshan, China from 29 November to 2 December, this year.
Uniting gamers from all over the world in an enjoyable and respectful environment, the World Cyber Games Asian Championship 2012 is a platform for gamers to get together, exchange ideas and strategies, whilst demonstrating their skills.
The largest cyber-gaming event will be held from 7–9 September at Hall 1, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in association with the National ICT Association of Malaysia (PIKOM). In the Asian Championship 2012, there will be gamers from 9 other countries who would be wrestling for the individual and team game titles. The World Cyber Games Asian Championship will feature three official games titles – DOTA 2, FIFA12 & Tekken 6.
The Samsung Notebook Series 7 GAMER will take pride of place as the chosen model for the FIFA12 game. The World Cyber Games Malaysian National Finals 2012 is expected to attract about 600 Malaysian gamersfrom across the country. The tournament is open to all Malaysian citizens and players who are below 18 years old would need to secure parental approval before they can participate. The seven games titles featured in the National Championship are FIFA12 (individual players format, and will feature the Samsung Series 7 Gamer), DOTA2 (a team of 5 players), Counter Strike-Online™ (a team of 5 players), World of Tanks (a team of 7 players), StarCraft II (individual), Tekken 6 (individual) and Counter Strike Global Offensive (a team of 5 players).
The selected winners will get the opportunity to compete with other world-class gamers to represent Malaysia at World Cyber Games Grand Final 2012 which will be held from 29 November – 2 December 2012 in Kunshan, China.
Samsung is also organizing a ‘’Samsung Super Match’’ for Samsung fans, bloggers and high-profile gamers. To enter, prospective contestants must first ‘like’ the Samsung Malaysia web page. Participants then register with a simple introduction and upload a photo of themselves. Participants must then engage friends to vote for him/her. The four participants with the highest number of votes will be selected to move on to pairing with four pre-determined gamers.
