Largest digital lifestyle sale in Penang this week with PC Expo 2012

Offers for Windows 8, tablets, smartphones and accessories expected to dominate Penang PC Expo 2012, Nov 2 -4 in PISA

OCTOBER 29, 2012, PENANG – The largest digital lifestyle sale in Penang will start this Friday at Penang PC Expo 2012.

Final preparations are underway as the popular three-day digital lifestyle Expo readies to welcome an expected 80,000 shoppers at Penang International Sports Arena (PISA) Nov 2 – 4, 2012. The Expo is also being concurrently held at two other venues; Mid Valley Exhibition Centre (MVEC) in Kuala Lumpur and Persada Johor International Convention Centre (PJICC) in Johor Bahru.

According EM Exhibitions (M) Sdn Bhd project director Jeslynn Wong Lee Chen, the festive mood is in the air as school holidays are almost here and many have in mind festivities like Deepavali, Awal Muharram and Christmas. “Shoppers are readying to have their shopping done and take advantage of year-end offers. We expect high consumer demand for accessories for tablets, notebook PCs, digital cameras and digital audio devices.”

In addition, the recent launches of Windows 8 and new notebook PCs pre-installed with Windows 8 from different makes like Lenovo, Acer, Hewlett-Packard, Dell have created a buzz. End-users visiting the Expo can get a closer look to size up new features in Windows 8.

A variety of promotional offers for tablets from Apple, Samsung to Sony will surely have shoppers excited. “Tablet devices have become the de facto computing device for mobile digital lifestyle users. We expect shoppers at Penang PC Expo 2012 to compare prices, purchasing plans, device compatibility, weight factor, accessories and software features as part of their tablet purchasing decision making process. The last three factors are important because it allows greater freedom for individuality.”

Exhibitors like Acer Sales & Services Sdn Bhd (P27) and Thunder Match Technology Sdn Bhd (P16, P18 – 19) are putting final touches to their activities. Acer is scheduling “Acer Windows 8 Bonanza” on November 3. It is rewarding the first 100 customers who makes a purchase between 11:00am – 1:00pm with a RM100 goodie bag. Every purchase within this three-hour window qualifies for a “Lucky Dip” to can enjoy further discounts of up to RM500 and eligible for Acer’s “Speedy Sweep” contest which has more prizes.

Thunder Match Technology is promoting Windows8 pre-installed notebooks like the 14-inch Dell Inspiron Ultrabook 14Z 5423 at RM2,199 and 14-inch Dell Inspiron Ultrabook 7420 at RM2,899. It is bundling with an assortment of goodies, Samsung Galaxy Note 2 at RM2,299, Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1” at RM2,199 and the 9.4-inch 16GB Sony Tablet S at RM1,199 and 32GB variant at RM1,499. It is also catering a wide range of Nokia Lumia smartphones like Nokia Lumia 900 for RM1,499, Nokia Lumia 800 for RM1,088 and Nokia Lumia 710 at RM788.

She also highlighted of the variety of offers awaiting shoppers at the Expo this week. For example, Discovery Info Centre Sdn Bhd (P1 – P4) will offer the entry-level Logitech MK220 Wireless Combo (keyboard and mouse) for only RM59 while the slightly more advanced Logitech Wireless Touch Keyboard K400 at RM109 and desktop PC speakers like the Logitech Z103 Speakers for only RM59. Discovery Info Centre will also offer a limited number of the new stylish Targus TSB288AP-50 rucksack at half price. The rucksack, which retails at RM428 and fits 15.6-inch notebook PCs, will only be offered at RM198 while the current model of Targus TSB158AP (retails for RM288 and fits 16-inch notebook PCs) will be offered at RM169.

Another exhibitor, Inter Micro Technology Sdn Bhd (P40), is having an assortment of accessories, from thematic notebook PC skins, gaming-optimised mouses, miniature PC speakers and others, on offer, from prices well under RM29.

More than 300 exhibitors are participating at PC Expo 2012. Participating exhibitors at Penang PC Expo 2012 in PISA this week include local digital lifestyle outlets, distributors and technology principals. “The growing presence of local vendors and distributors reflect the amazing popularity of digital lifestyle in Penang,” she said. These exhibitors include Eco-Tech International Sdn Bhd (P33), Forward IT Sdn Bhd (P32), Index Memory Corporation Sdn Bhd (P25), Kao Yek Computer (PG) Technology Sdn Bhd (P12), Keypoint Computers Sdn Bhd (P41), Metakey Sdn Bhd (PISA P5), Mind Maker Sdn Bhd (PISA P35), Mobile Shine Telecommunication (PISA P8), MobiPot Sdn Bhd (PISA P31), MyGames Development Sdn Bhd (P7), NC Computer (M) Sdn Bhd (P230) and Pineapple Computer Products (PG) Sdn Bhd (P30).

Technology principals like Acer, Canon Marketing (M) Sdn Bhd (P9), Hewlett -Packard (M) Sdn Bhd (P11) and mobile Internet service providers like Celcom Mobile Sdn Bhd (P47), Packet One Networks (M) Sdn Bhd (P46), Telekom Malaysia Berhad (P49) and YTL Communications Sdn Bhd (P45) will be present.

She said, “We will have “Early Bird” offers, limited edition products and for the first time, having a Check-In and Redeem program. Visitors need only show us they have “check-in” using their smartphones on social platforms like Facebook, Foursquare, Instagram or others and be rewarded with a unique special gift from us.” Early bird offers include RM169 for a Buffalo 500GB External Harddisk, RM199 for a HP Laserjet P1102, RM599 for a MSI Notebook, RM29.90 for Batman Series Power Bank and RM9.90 for a Kingston 8GB USB Drive while limited edition products are USB devices with characters like Batman, Transformers, Doraemon, Ironman and Avengers.

Meanwhile, PC Expo 2012 on Facebook (www.facebook.com/pcexpo) welcomed its 42,000 “Likes” today. “We’re rewarding our Facebook fans with “Unlock and Win”, a contest where we’re giving a Samsung Galaxy S3 as the grand prize,” she said. In addition, there’s also the “Like, Share and Tag” contest which feature prizes like an iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

PC Expo 2012 will continue its third leg Nov. 9 - 11 at Melaka International Trade Centre in Melaka.
