Barracuda Drives Into DC market with 'Unified Platform'

Barracuda launches 'unified platform' - Application Delivery Controller (ADC) to Increase Scalability and Security of Applications used in Data Centres

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, 26 April 2013 – Barracuda Networks Inc., a leading provider of security, networking and data protection solutions, today announced the launch of its new Application Delivery Controller (ADC) for Data Centres’. The launch marks Barracuda’s first entry into the ADC space.

ADC is an integrated solution that combines load balancing, application acceleration, application control, and web application security into a single, high-performance platform.

Over the years our customers had been voicing their wish for an integrated platform that both secures their applications and optimises performance. Until now, customers who wanted to do that were faced with very high costs and unnecessary complexity,” said Thiban Darmalingam, the Regional Manager for Barracuda in Malaysia.

“Customers can now efficiently and securely deliver highly available applications through a single, affordable and high-performance solution,” adds Thiban.

The Dell'Oro Group’s 4Q12 Data Center Appliance Report published in February 2013, points out that “ADC will see robust growth in 2013 with the continued preference of users bringing their own devices, data center build outs, consolidation, as well as the increased number of applications on each device.”

Barracuda ADC combines the advanced capabilities of the company’s purpose-built appliances in application security and load balancing, which have an installed base of more than 17,000 data centre customers throughout the world.

“Barracuda ADC has been designed to meet the performance demand that is needed for today’s high-traffic data centres. Furthermore ADC is equipped with high security solutions that protect against cyber-attacks such as as SQL injection, cookie tampering, and session hijacking - without impacting the systems performance,” adds Thiban.

Other key highlights of the new Barracuda ADC platform include:

·         Designed for Data Centers –With up to 32 x 1GbE ports and up to 8 x 10GbE ports, it easily meets the needs of today’s high-traffic data centers.

·         Complete Application Security – Barracuda ADC secures applications against attacks at both the network and the application layer, including OWASP Top-10 attacks such as SQL injection, cookie tampering, and session hijacking – without impacting system performance.

·         Thoroughly Tested Deployments – Extensive certifications, templates, and deployment guides are included for common applications such as Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SharePoint, Oracle Applications, web servers, and virtual servers.
