HP Rewards Eight Customers with Shopping Spree


KUALA LUMPUR, 3 April 2013 — HP Malaysia recently treated eight lucky winners to a shopping spree at AEON Sunway Pyramid as the finale to its Ho-Ho-Yeh 100% Shopping Spree Contest.

The technology giant’s contest, organised in conjunction with the multiple festive celebrations at the end of 2012 and start of 2013, brought more cheer by rewarding customers with a chance to win back 100% of the amount of their HP product purchase price.

The eight lucky HP customers were allowed to grab any item they wanted off the shelves within an hour – to the corresponding value of the HP product they purchased when participating in the contest.

One of the winners, 23-year-old Ang Kok Xian, said he was surprised and overjoyed when he was informed that his contest entry had been selected.

“My friend has been recommending I use an HP laptop after my previous machine stopped working so I went out and bought the HP Spectre XT and participated in the contest,” said the university student of his first HP purchase.

“The HP Envy Spectre XT is designed with the best sounding, richest audio available on a PC thanks to its built-in Beats Audio. It’s perfect for music lovers like me to set up a virtual DJ mixer. I find it stable and reliable and it performs well without lag,” added the broadcast student who uses his new HP laptop for college assignments and projects.

During the hour allocated for his shopping spree, Ang managed to stock up more than 70 home appliances, groceries and electronics items valued up to RM 3,399 – the price of his HP Spectre XT – for his family.
Another contest winner, Mohd Afandi bin Wook, also enjoyed the 100% cash back from HP for his purchase of a HP TouchSmart 520 desktop that comes with Microsoft Windows 8.

“I personally love the design of the TouchSmart 520 and it is a user-friendly desktop. With its large capacity hard drive and speedy performance, it helps a lot with my work,” said Afandi who runs an online business.

“HP is a global brand with worldwide customer service. It is well-known and they are everywhere,” said the 48-year-old adding that this is the reason he trusted the brand and has been using HP products for the past 10 years.

Using the shopping spree cash value of RM3,399 from his purchase of the HP Touchsmart 520, Afandi managed to pick up a television, home theatre system and radio for his family.
The HP Ho-Ho-Yeh 100% Shopping Spree contest, organised in partnership with Microsoft Malaysia, was run over an 8-week period of 7 December 2012 to 3 February 2013 where a weekly winner was chosen.

To participate, contestants simply had to buy pre-determined HP laptops or desktop PCs which came preloaded with Microsoft Windows 8 and complete a slogan.

The eight lucky weekly winners, chosen based on the creativity of their submissions, are Ha Chan Fatt, Lee Cheong Loong, Mohamad Zularif Bin Ayup, Ang Kok Xian, Lim Sew Chin, Mohamad Afandi Bin Wook, Lee Yee Kit and Tan Peng Hoe.
