8-day Photo Clinic to Kansai, Japan awaits the winners of Canon PhotoMarathon
Malaysia 2013 Kuala Lumpur, 7 October 2013 – Canon PhotoMarathon Asia 2013, the region’s largest photo competition returns to Kuala Lumpur with an unforgettable 8-day all expenses paid photo clinic to Kansai, Japan up for grabs. Taking place at the Boulevard, Berjaya Times Square on Saturday, November, the Canon PhotoMarathon Malaysia 2013 will see young photography enthusiasts competing in the Junior category for the first time.
“This year marks the seventh edition of the Canon PhotoMarathon Malaysia and we are proud that it has been a very successful platform for professional and enthusiast photographers from all across the country to put their skills and creativity to the test. Bringing in brand new elements this year, besides introducing a new Junior category for the rising young photographers, we have prepared many exciting activities for the participants and the public such as lucky draws, models shoot, large format printing demo, service counter and free Wi-Fi photo printing,” said Donny Ling, Director of the Imaging Communication Products division of Canon Marketing (Malaysia).
“Similar to our previous Canon PhotoMarathon competitions, all registration fees collected from both the Professional and Junior categories will go towards supporting two charity homes, Shelter Home and the Monfort Boys Town. This competition aims to be more than just a photography competition, but we want to be able to contribute and give back to our community. This year, we are excited to invite the children from both the homes who will join us in the race and we’ll be teaching them photography tips and we hope it’ll be a fun day out for them,” continued Donny.
The Canon PhotoMarathon 2013 will see photographers from all walks of life pitting against time.
The seventh edition of the photo competition will be held in a vastly different format this time around. Participants will now have to return to the staging area to upload their images before the next theme is announced. Participants will be tested on their interpretation of the three themes which will be randomly selected live onstage.

The Second Prize winner will win a Canon EOS 700D with 18-135mm STM lens while the Third Prize winner will win a Canon EOS M with EFM18-55mm lens, EF22mm lens and Speedlite 90EX flash. Three PowerShot G1X are also in store for the respective theme winners.
There are also many attractive prizes for the winners of the Junior category. The First Prize winner will receive the EOS 100D with the 18-55mm STM lens, the Second Prize winner will go home with a Canon EOS M with the EF-M18-55mm lens and the Third Prize winner will bag a Canon PowerShot N.
The judging process will be held concurrently while the event is running, marking another first for Canon PhotoMarathon Malaysia. Joining the judging panel this year are renowned photographers and leaders of the industry who will handpick the winners of the Canon PhotoMarathon 2013. They are Mr. Harry Woo, President of the Photographic Society of Malaysia, En. Kamaruddin Ahmad, Group Photo Editor, the New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad, Mr. Arthur Chen, Publisher of Digital Camera Magazine Malaysia, and Tuan Syed Agil Syed Jaafar, Head of Editorial, Utusan Malaysia.
