New Energy Efficient Facility Built on Integrated Switching, Routing and Security Has Low Total Cost of Ownership and Offers Robust Disaster Recovery and Managed Services
KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, May 15, 2013 – Juniper Networks, the industry leader in network innovation, today announced that Malaysia’s i-Tech Network Solutions Sdn Bhd (i-Tech) has deployed Juniper Networks’ integrated portfolio of switches, routers and security solutions in its new tier-3 green data center, SAFEHOUSE, to provide customers with disaster recovery solutions, co-location and managed services.
News Highlights
• With IBM as its systems integrator, SAFEHOUSE has been designed as a highly energy-efficient green data center, helping i-Tech maintain a low total cost of ownership and appeal to clients and organizations that place sustainability as a top priority.
• The data center deployed technologies from IBM, Schneider Electric and Juniper Networks and has a capacity of about 100 racks.
• A two-tier data center network architecture, with Juniper Networks® EX Series Ethernet Switches deployed at the core and providing server access, supports i-Tech’s energy-efficiency goals while eliminating network performance bottlenecks and scalability constraints inherent in conventional three-tier network designs.
• Besides reducing cost and complexity by eliminating the need for an aggregation layer, network operations at SAFEHOUSE are simplified by interconnecting multiple EX Series switches in a Virtual Chassis configuration, enabling them to be managed as a single, logical device.
• With Juniper Networks EX Series switches and SRX Series Services Gateways all running the Juniper Networks Junos® operating system, i-Tech benefits from streamlined network administration processes that greatly simplify network management and reduces operational costs.
• The simplified data center architecture and highly-streamlined operational model enables i-Tech to introduce a new-generation of services based on cloud computing, without any constraints at the network level.
i-Tech Network Solutions is the technology arm and wholly-owned subsidiary of Ireka Corporation Bhd (KL: IRKA). i-Tech’s clients are predominantly small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) comprised largely of logistics, software and telecommunications companies, with more than 70 percent of them using i-Tech’s managed services.

i-TECH LAUNCHES SAFEHOUSE GREEN DATA CENTRE
Ireka’s Technologies arm targets SMEs
Kuala Lumpur, 23 October 2012: Technologies arm of Main Board-listed Ireka Corporation Berhad, i-Tech Network Solutions Sdn Bhd (‘i-Tech’) launched its green data centre – SAFEHOUSE - today in Mont’ Kiara.
The SAFEHOUSE data centre is powered by IBM, in collaboration with Juniper Networks and APC by Schneider Electric. Coupled with i-Tech’s certified data centre engineers and personnel, SAFEHOUSE offers managed services, disaster recovery & business continuity solutions and co-location services.
The launch was attended by Ireka Management, representatives from Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), PEMANDU, IBM Malaysia, Juniper Networks, APC by Schneider Electric and potential clients.
Mr Tan Tze Meng (Head of Policy Planning and Advocacy Department, Digital Enablement Division, MDeC) shared during his speech, “Recognising the potential of data centres in economic development, Entry Point Project 3 (EPP3) aims to position Malaysia as a world class data centre hub. SAFEHOUSE, albeit a relatively small player, has huge growth potential. SAFEHOUSE is the perfect solution for small and medium enterprises.”
According to i-Tech Chief Executive Officer, Leonard Yee, the SAFEHOUSE data centre which is marketed worldwide via MDeC’s directory, was built to cater to the high demand for managed and outsourced services in a secure environment. “Businesses are demanding for highly secure, reliable and scalable infrastructure when evaluating a data centre. SAFEHOUSE data centre meets these needs and more with its green element,” Leonard said.
i-Tech established the SAFEHOUSE data centre in 2011, enabling the company to offer tier-3 data centre facilities. Phase 1 of i-Tech’s data centre began in April 2012 and is slightly over 1,000 sq feet with plans to grow to 5,000 sq feet in total.
SAFEHOUSE offers international standard data centre services with increased network reliability and scalability. This low carbon footprint data centre houses technologies from IBM, Schneider Electric and Juniper Networks, with the capacity of approximately 100 racks in total. i-Tech had designed SAFEHOUSE to operate as self-contained ecosystems. This Scalable Modular Data Centre (SMDC) architecture promotes lower energy consumption whilst maintaining a low total cost of ownership.
i-Tech’s target market is predominantly SMEs.“We hope to cater to the small and medium enterprises. Organisations today understands that co-locating their data centres offer the flexibility to upscale or even downscale their technology and as the business grows or as per business requirements, whilst minimising capital investments. ” said Leonard, adding that plans are underway to obtain ISO27001 certification.
