Alliance Partners SAS for Banking Intelligence Solutions

KUALA LUMPUR, 28 June 2007 – The Alliance Banking Group (ABG) has embarked on an aggressive technology growth with a SAS Malaysia partnership to build a Banking Intelligence Gateway for future business expansion and to enhance customer responsiveness.

Speaking at a partnership signing ceremony with SAS Malaysia today, ABG Group Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Bridget Lai, said: “Over the next three years, ABG is committed to invest in excess of RM260 million to build an enterprise-wide Banking Intelligence Gateway to drive the Group’s strategic charter to offer an end-to-end business platform, while moving closer to FRS 139 compliance.”

Continues Lai, “A robust and enterprise-wide Banking Intelligence Solutions framework will further enhance the Group’s competitive advantage in delivering best customer experience, thus underscoring the direction and level of personal banking experience that Alliance Bank wants to bring to its customers.”

Earlier this year, the Bank launched the first in Malaysia web based infrastructure for its Contact Centre, Telesales and Collections Centre, located in Subang Jaya to expand customer reach and improve service quality levels. The web based applications will allow the Bank to micro-filter data available and equip staff with a consolidated 360-degree view of our customers; enabling the Bank to build market intelligence and to offer customised financial solutions as per our customers’ specific needs, as well as to meet long-term business growth.

Alliance Banking Group’s partnership with SAS Malaysia will see the adoption of a comprehensive suite of SAS Banking Intelligence Solutions that includes automated systems for improved customer relationship management, business performance management, risk management, compliance and systems’ performance for the Group.

CEO and founder of SAS Institute, Dr Jim Goodnight lauded the Alliance – SAS partnership as a significant alliance as it indicates the bank’s confidence in SAS’ wealth of banking solutions and expertise.

“SAS is utilised by over 430 banks across the globe hence this forging of this Alliance-SAS partnership adds credibility and value to both parties. This is also a milestone for Alliance Banking Group in its pursuit to reinvent banking by applying the right technology and supported by the right people.”

“At SAS we invest significantly in R&D to ensure that the solutions provided to our customers are always cutting edge technology that matches the dynamism of our customers’ specific industries. The banking industry is one of the most advanced sectors in Malaysia, and Alliance’s investment in business intelligence illustrates their forward thinking in staying ahead of the pack,” adds Goodnight.

The holistic Banking Intelligence Solutions from SAS is tailored to the unique needs of the banking industry. SAS Banking Intelligence Solutions provides intelligence that represents the industry best practices for banks to improve financial and business performance management, conduct more detailed customer analysis, better measure and manage risks across the enterprise, and meet compliance requirements. In addition, an enterprise-wide business scorecard with banking-specific key performance indicators (KPIs) gives a single, strategic view of an enterprise to help drive the banking strategies forward.
