Allied Telesis于政府與教育領域穩佔一席

Allied Telesis Set to Gain Stronger Foothold in Government and Education

KUALA LUMPUR, 21 June, 2007 – Allied Telesis, the global IP networking solutions vendor, is set to gain stronger foothold in the government and education sectors in Malaysia with the appointment of Mohd Nazarudin Jaafar as its new Sales Manager, focusing on the government and education customers.

Mohd Nazarudin will be responsible for developing new leads in the two targeted sectors, while maintaining existing cooperation. He will also work closely with Allied Telesis’ channel partners to provide network solutions to end-users in the government and education sectors.

“Allied Telesis has tremendous growth potential in the Malaysian market and I am happy to join them and look forward to add value to the company’s growth by achieving higher penetration into the government and education markets,” said Mohd Nazarudin.

The new sales manager brings with him more than 16 years of experience working in the government and telco IT projects. Prior to joining Allied Telesis, Mohd Nazarudin was the Sales Manager for Hitachi Data Systems where he secured contracts worth over RM15 million.

He started his career as a Network Specialist with one of Malaysia’s pioneer systems integrators, Mesiniaga and has since worked with multinational IT companies such as Cisco Systems, Novell Corporation and EMC, mostly in his capacity as sales and technical manager where he accumulated valuable experiences and contacts in government, telcos, Internet Service Providers (ISPs) as well as the education sector.

“We welcome Mohd Nazarudin to the Allied Telesis’ family in Malaysia as his experience will further strengthen our local team. His appointment emphasizes our commitment to further grow our business in Malaysia and help the government to fulfil the country’s broadband and IPv6 technology vision,” said Paul Choy, Allied Telesis’ Country Manager for Malaysia.

Malaysia has announced its ambition to become an Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6)-enabled country by 2010, in time for the estimated expiry of Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4), where the first stage of the plan involves having sector migration that will start with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) by end of 2006 and government agencies by 2008. It has also set a goal to increase its broadband penetration rate to 30% - 40% by the year 2008.

With the impending increase in broadband usage and additional bandwidth, applications such as IP Surveillance, Video on Demand, Distant Learning, Triple Play will soon become a reality in Malaysia.

“In turn, as newer applications emerge, government agencies, enterprises and institutions of higher learning will need to migrate to Gigabit Ethernet or 10 Gigabit Ethernet networks. Access networks will support greater bandwidth with technologies that support fibre-to-the-home/business (FTTx),” explained Choy.

Some of the stimulants for the above applications include the implementation of the 9th Malaysia Plan, where ICT will be used more to enable government agencies to excel in providing excellent service to the public as well as to be more productive and efficient; the Education Ministry SchoolNet Project; establishing Malaysia as the regional hub of education excellence as well as the growing need for local companies to become regional and global players, he added.

Allied Telesis is also known for its high quality and cost effective range of networking solutions. It provides complete end-to-end networking solutions for service providers, telcos, enterprises, education, SMEs and government markets.
