CELCOM INTRODUCES NEW HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY TO PROMOTE HEALTHIER LIVING AMONGST ITS EMPLOYEES

KUALA LUMPUR, 11 JULY 2007 - Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad proudly launches its very first regional health awareness event this morning, in conjunction with its latest company Policy Statement; the Occupational Safety & Health and Environment policy, at the Lobby of Menara Celcom. Aptly named CELCOM’S HEALTH CARNIVAL 2007, this two-day event will be held at the lobby of Menara Celcom beginning today until 12th July 2007.

This policy statement is a show of commitment to all of Celcom’s employees in efforts to increase awareness, to prevent and eliminate the risk of any form of health or safety hazard, and most importantly, to change the general mindset of employees and the public towards healthier living.

It also goes to show, that Celcom is dedicated in taking proactive steps towards environmental issues such as preventing pollution and damage to properties, conserving and preserving natural resources, and at the same time, formulating new ideas to increase employee awareness, all for the benefits of a safe, healthy and decent workplace.

Celcom strives for continual improvement and now with the newly applied policy statement, Celcom staff will have a detailed guideline in improving the overall environment of the company.
The first in many more “pro-health” events to come, the Health Carnival will consist of various interesting medical workshops covering areas of emotional well being, psychical fitness, sex and other health related issues that commonly affect the masses.

“Celcom believes in constant improvement in every aspect of a lifestyle and the best way to achieve this, is by starting with health. By taking the step to apply the new Occupational Safety & Health and Environmental policy statement, not only will we be able to enhance one’s health, it will also help mould an improved, more productive and more health conscious working society,” said Dato’ Sri Shazalli Ramly, Chief Executive Officer of Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad.

He added, “By beginning internally with all of our staff, it will then be trickled down to our customers the realization that Celcom is indeed a healthy and environmentally friendly organization. Celcom never wavers in empowering our customers with perfection.”

Several interesting talks and health workshops will be given by renowned Malaysian doctors and cardiologists from Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital, Damansara Specialist Hospital and Pantai Bangsar Medical Center. The discussions will touch on health issues and information that are rarely discussed among us Malaysians. In addition to that, free consultations booths, scans and tests will be made readily available for guests who would like to identify their most current state of health.

Celcom currently has 6.2 million customers and over 270,000 3G subscribers. It has the widest network of any mobile network operator in the country, covering 97 per cent of Malaysia.
