七人入選Oracle Graduate Development計劃

Oracle Corporation Malaysia’s Graduate Development Program Shortlists Final Seven

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, July 2, 2007. As part of its long-term commitment to support the Malaysian Government’s human capital development agenda, Oracle Corporation Malaysia recently established the Graduate Development Program. The Graduate Development Program selects and grooms outstanding Malaysian graduates for business software consulting, sales and sales-consulting opportunities with the company.

Launched this year, the inaugural programme is open to all fresh graduates or candidates with less than one-year of working experience, who hold a First Class or Second Class Upper Honours degree or equivalent with a CGPA of 3.0 from recognised universities. The candidates come from various fields, including: Computer Science, Information Systems, Technology, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting and Computer Engineering.

Oracle Corporation Malaysia received over 350 applications from across the country. Of this, 80 candidates were short-listed. The final seven candidates were selected after a series of selection interviews and activities.

“People need more than a degree to survive, compete and grow in today’s dynamic business environment,” said K Raman, Managing Director of Oracle Corporation Malaysia. “To be successful and sought-after, graduates must possess self-motivation and can accept challenges to realise their personal goals. The Graduate Development Program enables us to nurture new talent to be the business leaders of tomorrow.”

Selection process
The interview panel consisted of Oracle Corporation Malaysia managers who evaluated the candidates on their soft-skills, competitive mindsets, skill development aptitude as well as their level of engagement, initiative and leadership, presence of mind and lateral thinking. In addition to two rounds of interviews, management games were also utilised to test candidates’ decision-making capabilities and ability to think “out of the box”.

Rathi Nandkishore, Director of Campus Relations, Oracle Asia Pacific, said, “When people are at play, they are more likely to perform by showcasing their genuine personalities and qualities. That is why we want to evaluate our candidates at their most natural state.”

Kiranjeet Kaur, Universiti Teknologi Petronas graduate and one of the seven finalists said the interview process was ‘one of a kind’. “The questions were very challenging and helped me gain a deeper understanding of my personality and leadership capabilities. I am honoured to have been selected to join Oracle and I look forward to a challenging journey,” she said.

Another finalist, Nazri bin Abdullah, a graduate of Universiti Tenaga Malaysia (UNITEN), said, “I have been looking forward to the chance to prove my mettle and I am glad that after the grueling selection process I have been given the opportunity to join Oracle.”

The successful candidates will join Oracle Corporation Malaysia in June 2007, where they will undergo further training to build their skills and knowledge base, and leadership qualities.
Oracle’s Graduate Development Program
The Graduate Development Program is run by Oracle in various countries to groom promising graduates. Successful candidates can look forward to an exciting career and attractive remuneration with the global software and services leader.

Different by design, the Graduate Development Program readies fresh graduates for real-world professional challenges by providing trainees the opportunity to work on real projects, with clients and deliverables. They are given access to various information, tools, resources and continuous development opportunities relevant to their professional growth.

Trainees are also exposed to the full range of Oracle’s operations following a specially designed rotational programme and are mentored by seasoned Oracle IT professionals, managers and executives. This helps to produce highly competitive and skilled professionals for the IT industry. Trainees also gain an international perspective through opportunities to interact with and learn from peers and managers in their own country as well as in other Asia Pacific countries.

By the end of the programme, trainees would have received training to build key business competencies such as communication and presentation skills, motivational skills, change management, planning and organisational skills and effective teamwork.
