T Bun get’s a taste of the mighty Emperor’s Hammer!



On the 7th day of the 7th month the 7th year of this new millenia, unknown to many the fate of this galaxy was decided in a cyber café called T Bun Networks, located in Wangsa Maju.

Armies from all across the universe gathered at this fateful battleground: the vile Necrons, chaotic Orks, sacrilegious Chaos Marines, valiant Tau, steadfast Imperials, mysterious Eldars and mighty Space Marines faced their mortal enemies to do battle once again that changed the landscape of T Bun Networks forever…

The Dark Crusade Mini Tournament at T Bun Networks on the 7th of July saw 16 players from around KL with veterans from the LYNK Chapter and a few newcomers such as Goofy, Donald, ilikipie and several other repeat offenders such as CWH, Sky and CamperS.W.A.T. from the Eclipse Tournament held last April 2007. The T Bun tournament was postponed from June to July as many players were unable to attend and the management, New Era Interactive Software made amendments to accommodate them all.

Before the tournament started, the LYNK Chapter gave away a scroll of appreciation to Sze Jun King of New Era Interactive Software, with quote on the scroll: in recognition of his tireless fight against the heresy, constant service to the Emperor of Man, excellent contribution to the community and selfless devotion to the promotion of worthy games in competitive yet friendly atmosphere. New Era has been actively promoting Dark Crusade mini tournaments at cyber cafes and will continue to do more tournament for other games in coming months.

A double elimination bracket was played among the 16 players, but instead of being pre-seeded by the organizers as in the past, the players this time around were given the opportunity to draw for their own slots and came to:

Most of the LYNK Chapter made it past the first round except m3noob aka (Lu Yi Zheng) who had spent too much time with Supreme Commander in the recent months lost to Donald and G.Spec (Yip Yau Kean) being too tied with work, lost to Goofy . Participants of the previous Eclipse Tournament: Sky, CWH and CamperS.W.A.T. failed to provide a good challenge against their competitors.

Moving ahead to the winner’s bracket, many of the LYNK members faced their own chapter-mates with Noob (Wong Shaw In) and X (Lexiss Pong) beat kuku (Yong Chi Ping) and Darapa (Koh Jen Yen) while twin brothers Donald (Zahir Amir) Goofy (Azri Aziz) had to give way to one another while ilikepie (Muhammad Harris) forged ahead after beating Hunt (Vishallan Govan).

In the next round, an intense battle erupted when Noob and X faced each other. It was an epic battle between Space Marine versus Chaos Marine on the map Quest’s Triumph but after the wake of destruction Noob’s mighty space marines emerged triumphant over X’s evil Chaos Marines. Another match between ilikepie and Goofy was also a tough match as both friends did not want to give in to one another, but ilikepie won over Goofy in the end. Later on in the bracket, Noob defeated ilikepie in the subsequent round. Till this point, it was clear the will of the Emperor was strong.

Over at the loser’s bracket, Hunt, Darapa and Darkfyre (Andy Sjahrial) failed to make their way into the top 8 this time around but G.Spec and previous champions Heaven (Wong Sin Wah) and kuku made it through but kuku gave Heaven a walkover as he was contented having secured RM 100 being in the top 8 spot. Only X made it to the top 3 as he lost out to ilikepie. In the deciding battle for the championship, ilikepie got a second chance at Noob but this fellow Space Marine gave no opportunity to ilikepie and and took the championship by a longshot.

At the end of the bloody battlefield, the winners that emerged victorious were:

The Dark Crusade Mini Tournament has over seen 200 participants till date since it was first held last December 2006 and ended this season with the last tournament at T Bun. Other tournaments are currently being planned by New Era to make the gaming scene in Malaysia more exciting.
