CELCOM AND K-AMAL TECHNOLOGIES TO EMPOWER UMNO MEMBERS THROUGH CELCOM’S SOCIETY POSTPAID PACKAGE AND CUSTOMISED CONTENT SERVICES

KUALA LUMPUR, Saturday, July 7, 2007 –Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad, through its subsidiary Celcom Mobile Sdn Bhd, today announced a joint collaboration with K-Amal Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd, a leading domestic ICT company specializing in IT consulting, support services, and mobile content development.

This joint initiative has been formulated to provide the latest mobile communications technologies and customised mobile content to members of United Malay National Organisation (UMNO), the largest political organisation in Malaysia with over 3.2mil registered members.
Through this collaboration, UMNO members will benefit from access to Celcom’s Society Postpaid tariff package at highly competitive rates. Combined with Celcom’s unrivalled network coverage and UMNO’s national presence, this will place the power of mobile communications into the hands of even the most rural Malaysian communities.

Representing Celcom at the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony was its Senior Vice President, Global Enterprise, Tuan Syed Md Najib Syed Md Noor, whilst K-Amal Technologies was represented by their Executive Director, En Zafarul Akbar Haji Kassim.
Speaking at the ceremony, Syed Najib emphasised the importance of ubiquitous and affordable communications to a nations’ economic success, adding that, “Telecoms operators have grown together with our nation, and must play a role in ensuring Malaysia’s continued success. By extending our Society Postpaid Package to UMNO members, we hope to bring mobility to the masses, while developing an even stronger sense of community and belonging.”

“Mobile data and content services are also powerful tools for communications and collaboration, and through our partnership with K-Amal Technologies we truly believe all UMNO members will benefit from participating”, concluded Syed Najib.

Celcom is our natural choice for a partner in this project, given the quality and reach of their mobile network and the value that their Society Postpaid Package provides.”

Benefits
The Celcom Society Package plan is especially designed for associations registered with the Registrar of Societies.

With a commitment fee of only RM48 per month, Celcom’s Society Postpaid package users are also able to enjoy the call rate of 15 sen per minute and 5 sen for each SMS. The package also allows users to enjoy Celcom’s 12Pax favorites where they can call their 12 preferred family members and friends at only 10 sen per minute.

In addition to basic mobile services, UMNO members who register for the programme will receive targeted news items and bulletins, ringtones, Call-Me-Tones, and other UMNO-related content.

To date, Celcom has the widest network of any mobile network operator in the country, covering 97 per cent of the populated areas in Malaysia, including Sabah and Sarawak.
It also has the widest 3G and HSDPA coverage in the country. Celcom 3G even extends to the peak of Mount Kinabalu, giving Celcom the distinction of offering the widest, fastest and highest 3G coverage in the world. Celcom also offers the most remote coverage in Malaysia, with the recent installation of its network service in the Maliau Basin, located in south central Sabah.

It was also proven that Celcom’s network has even reached the highest peak in the world, which is Mount Everest, when the members of the Projek Merdeka de’ Everest 2007 team made outgoing calls as well as received calls using the powerful Celcom GSM Satellite Communications system.
