Outsourcing Malaysia會員獲業界認同 PETALING JAYA, March 26, 2008 – Five Outsourcing Malaysia (OM) members have been placed in a list of the world’s top 100 service providers. The five are Kompakar Inc Bhd, Scicom (MSC) Bhd, EA Consulting Asia Pacific Sdn Bhd, Teledirect Sdn Bhd and Vantage Point Consulting Sdn Bhd.
The 2008 Global Services 100 (GS100) scours the world and lists the top 100 global ICT service providers in the world. As such, this is a landmark occasion and the second time after 2007 where five OM members have simultaneously attained recognition on GS100, which has been traditionally dominated by companies from India.
According OM chairman David Wong Nan Fay, this achievement is a glowing testament reflecting the growth of world-class ICT service providers among its members. “This is a proud moment for OM. We’re deeply honoured and pay tribute to our members who have gained success and recognition in a very competitive field.”
He said efforts in past year to engage the global ICT market and help elevate OM members’ global exposure has met with success. "These activities have resulted in improvement and raising of standards across the board, from all OM members."
OM's activities include organising outbound trade missions to Outsource World 2007 in New York, Nasscom Leadership Forum 2008 in Mumbai last February and the upcoming SIG Global Conference 2008 in Newport Beach this May.
OM will also host an OM Pavilion at 16th World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT 2008), showcasing its members’ Shared Services and Outsourcing (SSO) capabilities in May. “We will also chair a panel session dedicated to SSO,” said Wong. “These are part of our year round ongoing activities aimed at increasing our members’ profile, providing them with opportunities to be proactive, get their message across and directly engage with decision makers and government leaders.”
Being listed on GS100 is significant, more so in light of WCIT 2008, which starts May 18 to 22, 2008. “Being on this list delivers prominence and instant exposure. It firms credibility and helps service buyers leapfrog to the involvement stage from merely the request-for-information stage. GS100 is used by the industry as a tool for buyers of business and technology services. This is the unique advantage of being identified as a GS100 company. This means visitors at WCIT 2008 can identify OM members who are on GS100,” said Wong, adding that to date, eight OM members have gain recognition and listed on GS100 since 2006. "We have been encouraging OM members to participate and qualify to be on GS100 and will continue to do so for the future."
OM currently has a membership roster of 36 member companies.
This year’s GS100 saw hundreds of global ICT and BPO service providers participating. The response this year was said to be the best in GS100's four year history. It included service providers from 17 countries with delivery centers across 31 countries. The selected companies are said to have the maturity and capability to lead the next wave of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) services globalisation. Judges comprise representatives from CyberMedia (India) Ltd’s Global Services magazine and outsourcing experts from global outsourcing consultants, neoIT Inc.
There are 10 categories in GS100 like IT Services Provider, Infrastructure Service Provider, Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Provider, Finance and Accounting Outsourcing (FAO) Provider, Human Resources Outsourcing (HRO) Provider and Contact Center. Kompakar holds the sold distinction of being included in two 2008 GS100 categories; Emerging Asian Markets and Infrastructure Providers. Meanwhile, Scicom and EA Consulting Asia Pacific also join Kompakar in the Emerging Asian Markets category. "This recognition is testament that OM is moving in the right direction. We are optimistic that such achievements and recognition will soon follow OM members in the near future." added Wong.
