JUNIPER NETWORKS OPEN IP DEVELOPMENT PARTNERS

IBM, Kasenna, NEC and Polycom Join Open IP Development Programs

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, 14 July, 2008– Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR), the leader in high-performance networking, announced that IBM, Kasenna, NEC and Polycom are the company’s newest Open IP development partners.

The Juniper Networks Open IP development programs provide tools and support for creating advanced products and services that combine the technology and expertise of partners with the extensive networking and security capabilities from Juniper Networks. The Open IP development programs include the Open IP Solution Development Program (OSDP) and the Open IP Service Creation Program (OSCP).

As new members of the OSDP, IBM and NEC have access to the Partner Solution Development Platform (PSDP) to develop specialized applications on best-in-class JUNOS software through a powerful set of resources, including a software development kit with intelligent and secure interfaces to JUNOS routing and service functions, as well as technical and business support. By developing on JUNOS software, time and money can be saved in application development, as well as in the deployment and ongoing operations costs of the solution.

“In an increasingly connected world, innovation is being driven by leading technology companies working together in an open, collaborative manner that leverages the strengths and expertise of each company,” said John L. Ryan, business development executive, Strategic Alliances at IBM.

“With Juniper’s Partner Solution Development Platform, we are accelerating the pace of innovation and driving the development of advanced applications for next-generation networks.”

“Juniper’s PSDP accelerates our development work for rich services and integration of applications,” said Norihiko Uesugi, general manager, IP Networks at NEC. “NEC is developing high-quality multicast streaming software with the PSDP, which will run on Juniper’s routing platforms with JUNOS software. We look forward to expanding our collaboration with Juniper Networks on the customization of routing platforms that meet the increasing demand from telecom carriers and service providers in a timely and efficient manner.”

As new members of the OSCP, Kasenna and Polycom are creating intelligent IP service management functionality through the development of standards-based interfaces to the Juniper Networks SRC Session and Resource Control Portfolio. The OSCP, which now includes 14 active partners, enables service providers to rapidly create and deploy new policy-based IP services to optimize the use of network resources and deliver assured experiences for hundreds of thousands of subscribers.

The specialized applications being developed include:
Kasenna: Dynamic admission functionality for IPTV services
Polycom: Assured quality for video conferencing/collaboration

“We welcome the new partners to our Open IP development programs, which drive innovation and accelerate the development of specialized applications to run on our high-performance networking platforms,” said Andy Miller, Juniper’s vice president of APAC service provider sales. “Combining the unique expertise of customers and partners with the continuous systems availability, carrier-class capabilities of the SRC and the automated operations efficiency of JUNOS software is enabling customers to monetize their networks.”
