Canon puts creativity into the hands of consumers

Canonfoto set to make personalised photo albums a work of art

KUALA LUMPUR, 31st October 2008 - Canon Marketing (Malaysia), a global leader in photographic and digital imaging solutions went the extra mile by putting creative power in the consumers hand not only through its renowned camera and printing technology but through a new introduction, Canonfoto .

In line with its legacy of innovation and creativity, Canonfoto puts the power to create personalized memories in the hands of its consumers. The new software service allows users to create personalised photo albums with suitable themes, self written captions and will come printed in a high quality bound book in the chosen shape and size. “The idea of technology is to make life easier. We have digital cameras that offer a variety of functions for desired results, then we proceeded to offer compact photo printers for instant results and now we bring a service that puts valuable memories into an attractive and personalized album,” said Mr. Liew Sip Chon, President & CEO of Canon Marketing (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.

“Besides offering our consumers a new service, we are also giving our long term Canonfoto Authorised Agents a business opportunity to be more competitive and have a Canon edge in the market. Canonfoto is our new strategy to bring new business to our partners be it the resellers, especially to our print partners through the imagePRESS C7000VP. Another first by Canon,” added Mr. Liew.

Canonfoto basically functions either as an online or an offline service that can be downloaded into the user’s personal computer to create a personalized photo book. The service first offers a big range of themes or designs to choose from and can even be personalized according to images, e.g. holidays, wedding, baby photos, corporate events and so on. The consumer can download the FREE Software, compose their new album with the software and send it for printing. As simple as that.

For those who are comfortable with their local photo studio, Canon Concept stores nationwide will host Canonfoto Kiosks where public can put together the album and hand over to the dealer for printing. Authorised Canon dealerships are also in the process of adopting this new service to serve Canon’s clients nationwide.

This final photo album can either be sent online to Canon for the final print or submitted to any dealers in the vicinity for a professionally printed final photo book within 7-10 days.

“Our aim was to put this technology in a packaging with our machines to create outstanding results. The market always needs something new, Canonfoto is giving users the chance to have their memories printed in high quality and sent to their doorsteps or their nearest photo shops at the touch of a button.

“The quality of the final product need not be doubted as that too is printed using Canon’s commercial, the imagePRESS C7000VP,” said Mr. Richard Yeow, Senior Director & General Manager, Business Imaging Solution Division.

The imagePRESS C7000 VP is Canon’s new addition with high quality gloss print and offers a quality close to offset printing. It supports a variety of paper types and prints up to B5R size with binding capabilities incorporated hence making it the best choice for the Canonfoto service.

“Our many dealers are excited over this introduction as it gives them the chance to bring their business to a new height under the banner of one of the oldest brands in Malaysia,” he enthused.

The albums will be available in four different sizes which are 8” x 8”, 8.5” x 11” (landscape), 11” x 8.5” (portrait), and 12” x 12” to suit the mood and occasion of the user and the price starts at as low as RM79 and charges are based on size, number of pages in an album and the choice of cover.

Canonfoto takes Canon’s imaging package to greater heights as it now offers a complete technology service from capturing an image to designing, printing and storing it with a personal touch.

“We aim to keep our consumers and dealers happy, hence the need for constant improvements and introduction of new and one-of-a-kind services utilizing our technology.
