Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, May 28, 2009 – In a signing ceremony held today at DPI Technology Sdn Bhd– one of HP’s appointed channel partners in Malaysia, HP announced that Malaysian company, KB Colour Image Sdn Bhd, has become the first company here to own the HP Designjet L65500 Printer. The HP Designjet L65500 is the first printer to feature HP Latex Printing Technologies that are designed to reduce the environmental impact of printing.

“We are confident that the HP Designjet L65500 will help to further expand the market opportunities for KB Colour Image. Andy Koh, Managing Director, KB Colour Image said, “The decision to purchase the HP Designjet L65500 was fairly easy for us when you consider its many compelling features. With the HP Designjet L65500, we can now reduce the environmental impact of our printing and demonstrate our commitment to the environment with new eco-friendly digital printing solutions without the need to sacrifice print quality or value. Additionally, the printer will also allow us to pursue new business opportunities with leading international corporations that require us to provide eco-friendly printing solutions.”

The HP Designjet L65500, currently being showcased at DPI Technology Sdn Bhd premises at No. 19, Jalan 2/118C, Desa Tun Razak, 56000 Kuala Lumpur, till 07 June 2009 - will provide a new alternative eco-friendly digital printing option to print service providers (PSPs) serving the Malaysian signage market.

Andy added, “What truly won us over was the fact that the printer is not only friendlier to the environment but is also able to print on any uncoated media at a high quality and fast printing speed. This is not something many competing products currently being sold here are able to offer.”

Charles added, “The HP Designjet L65500 Printer with HP Latex Inks offers print service providers a compelling new alternative that allows them to expand the variety of environmentally conscious outdoor and indoor applications they can offer while also improving their overall printing atmosphere.”

The HP Designjet L65500 Printer, is able to print up to 104 inches (2.64 meters) wide in rich saturated colors, and offers Malaysian PSPs a versatile system that can produce a broad range of applications – from point-of-purchase displays, transit signage, wall murals and exhibition graphics to vehicle graphics and fleet marking, and a variety of exterior and interior event signage – on a wide range of materials, including most low-cost, uncoated, solvent-compatible media.

HP Latex Printing Technologies, which were unveiled in March 2008, include HP Latex Inks and HP Wide Scan Printing Technology. Together, these solutions provide durable, odorless(1) prints; sharp, vivid image quality; application versatility; and high-productivity, enabling print service providers to increase their print capacity and grow their businesses while reducing the environmental impact of their printing.

New water-based HP Latex Inks provide many of the benefits of solvent-ink technology without the typical environmental, health and safety considerations. Prints produced with HP Latex Inks are odorless(1) and emit extremely low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). No special ventilation is required,(2) facilitating an improved printing environment. HP Latex Inks are not classified as hazardous waste(3) and are non-flammable and non-combustible.

HP Wide Scan Printing Technology delivers high productivity and high image quality using two proprietary HP technologies: HP Wide Scan Printheads and the HP Optical Media Advance Sensor. The HP Designjet L65500 Printer with HP Wide Scan Printheads enables consistent, high-quality output at fast print speeds,(5) approximately 800 square feet/hour for outdoor-quality prints and 400 square feet/hour for indoor-quality prints.

The HP Designjet L65500 is currently available in Malaysia through HP appointed channel partners including DPI Technology Sdn Bhd and Toyo Photo Products Sdn Bhd.
