MIMOS BAGGED SEVEN AWARDS AT INVENTION, INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY EXHIBITION (ITEX) 2009

MIMOS, the premier applied research centre in frontier technologies, bagged seven awards at the recent Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition (ITEX) Awards 2009 for the following inventions:

Gold Award Winners: Dr. Mohd Rais Ahmad (second-left), Dr Reza Beik Zadeh (middle) and Dr. Hon Hock Woon (far right) from MIMOS Berhad received the Gold Award under the multimedia category for ‘Ontology Driven Intelligent Diagnoser-Advisor (ODIDA)’ invention and ‘Combined function for non-linear map-based transformations in image processing’ invention, and under the materials category for ‘Green Chlorination of Silver’ invention. The award was presented by the Malaysian Invention & Design Society (MINDS) President, Prof Emeritus Tan Sri Datuk Dr Augustine S. H. Ong (far left) and MINDS Vice President, Mr. Myocho Kan Chee Yuen (second right).

· ITEX 2009 Gold Awards under the multimedia category for ‘Ontology Driven Intelligent Diagnoser-Advisor (ODIDA)’ invention and ‘Combined function for non-linear map-based transformations in image processing’ invention, and under the materials category for ‘Green Chlorination of Silver’ invention;

· ITEX 2009 Silver Award under the electricity/electronics category for its ‘Method of preparation and unitary transformation of quantum states for quantum key distribution’ invention’; and

· ITEX 2009 Bronze Award for Best Booth Design under the ‘54 square metres and below’ category.

· ITEX 2009 Best Invention under the research institutes/organizations category for ‘Green Chlorination of Silver’ invention;

Malaysia Innovative Product Award under the telecommunication category for ‘WiWi’ (a hybrid WiMAX & WiFi solution) for bridging the digital divide; and under the agriculture category for ‘Wireless Sensor Network for Agriculture’;

(ITEX) is Asia leading exhibition to showcase new inventions, new technologies and products aimed at securing investment, manufacturing and commercialisation prospects and partners. The exhibition brings together a showcase of inventions and innovations by universities, research institutions, individual inventors and from the corporate sectors from the ASEAN, Asia and European countries.
