Autodesk Invites 24 APAC Students for an Inside Look at the Motion Picture Industry at the AUTODESK PANORAMA STUDENT BOOTCAMP 2011

Budding Student Modelers and Animators from 10 APAC countries to fly to Hong Kong for the unique three-day immersion program with the most coveted names in the business

Autodesk has announced an update in the list of mentors that will be attending the Autodesk PANORAMA Student Bootcamp in Hong Kong. Ms Hsu Wen-Chin from Pixar Animation Studios will be replaced by Mr Jaewook Park, Visual Effects Supervisor of Giant Step.

With this change, the new line-up of mentors is as follows:
· Mr Kim Ooi, Animation Supervisor – Feature Animation, Industrial Light and Magic Singapore
· Mr Ken Huff, Technical Trainer, Lucasfilm Singapore
· Mr Ian Cope, Visual Effects & Stereoscopic Producer, Rising Sun Pictures
· Mr Jaewook Park, Visual Effects Supervisor, Giant Step

MALAYSIA, December 7, 2011 – Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK), a leader in 3D design, engineering and entertainment software, is pleased to announce the return of the Autodesk PANORAMA Student Bootcamp for the third year running. Created by Autodesk with the aim of igniting passion and creativity in Asia’s aspiring designers and animators, the bootcamp was designed as a unique learning platform that would give the next-generation of design talent the opportunity to develop their skills under the guidance of top professionals in the industry.

This year, the three-day intensive program will take 24 student finalists from 10 APAC countries to Hong Kong, where they will hone their skills in 3D animation and modeling under the tutelage of four respected industry professionals representing the biggest and best production houses worldwide. They will also be exposed to the latest trends in the world of animation, visual effects and motion picture production to give them a unique and informed perspective on the skills and knowledge required to succeed in the industry.

The distinguished line-up of mentors for the Autodesk PANORAMA Student Bootcamp includes:
• Mr Kim Ooi, Animation Supervisor – Feature Animation, Industrial Light and Magic Singapore
• Mr Ken Huff, Technical Trainer, Lucasfilm Singapore
• Mr Ian Cope, Visual Effects & Stereoscopic Producer, Rising Sun Pictures
• Ms Hsu Wen-Chin, Lighting Technical Director, Pixar Animation Studios

Student finalists were chosen based on their submissions for the Autodesk iiko Experience – a competition challenging students and industry professionals across 14 countries in Asia Pacific to submit their most creative interpretation of iiko, a fictitious character created by Autodesk. Each individual brought the base model character to life with the help of the world-class software products in Autodesk’s Digital Entertainment Creation suite, accessible to students for free via the Autodesk Education Community (URL: www.autodesk.com/edcommunity). In all, over a thousand entries were received across the two student competition categories, 3D Animation and 3D Modeling.

In Hong Kong, finalists will be broken into teams to create their own short film project on their experience for the final team award. Teams will be judged on the overall creativity of their concept, storyboarding and overall execution, and will also get a chance for their film to be featured on the Animax channel and website. All student finalists will also get to end their trip as conference attendees at SIGGRAPH Asia 2011, the Asian leg of one of the world’s largest computer graphics conferences, where they will be joined by winners from the open category for the Autodesk iiko Experience.

*The student category of the Autodesk iiko Experience to select the finalists was open to students aged 18 and over, in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
