Now Southeast Asia’s Second Biggest Notebook Brand

Due to consumer trust in ASUS quality and innovative designs, the company has become one of the regional top two notebook brands based on 2011 whole-year performance

Kuala Lumpur, 20 March 2012 – ASUS, a leading performer and innovator in the worldwide technology market, celebrates another year of business excellence in 2011. Achieving a 145% growth rate last year, ASUS is the only PC brand to display strong expansion for 12 consecutive quarters, despite prominent seasonal factors and a tough global macro-economic landscape with deep impact on Southeast Asia markets and consumption.

According to IDC’s whole-year 2011 rankings, ASUS has become one of the top two notebook brands in Southeast Asia. Commenting on this, Rex Lee, Regional Director of Southeast Asia for ASUS said:

“ASUS greatly appreciates the recognition we and our products receive from consumers, and would like to thank all channel partners for their great support. We will continue to provide the best quality products through consistent innovation and persistent perfection.”

New ideas and technologies pave the way for success
ASUS has seen its success grow as emerging markets across Southeast Asia, experience rapidly-expanding demand for computing devices of all kinds with far reaching implications for the technology industry and the region.

Garnering some 3,886 awards in 2011 alone, ASUS attributes its success to the high quality and reliability of its products, a claim backed by the findings of SquareTrade, the largest independent warranty service provider in the United States. SquareTrade conducted a study of 30,000 notebooks and concluded that ASUS maintains the lowest product failure rate over a three-year product lifespan. Widely recognized for design, innovation and performance, twelve ASUS products have won the 2012 iF Design Awards, including ZENBOOK, the bestselling Ultrabook on the market. The new ZENBOOK design combines meticulous craftsmanship and the latest technology, a concept reflecting the fusion of art and performance found in many ASUS products.

ASUS plans to unveil new portable PC products for Southeast Asia markets in May, including the PadFone, which proved to be a major attraction at Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona.

Caring for and taking part in communities
ASUS has engaged in outreach programs throughout Southeast Asia, with the participant of team members from local branches and the Taiwan headquarters. Locations include Banda Aceh and North Sumatra in Indonesia, and the city of Hue in Vietnam. During 2011, ASUS team members organized educational activities sponsored by the company to benefit local children in these communities, providing computer literacy classes to school students using equipment furnished by ASUS. These activities are part of an ongoing ASUS effort to bridge any existing digital divides in Southeast Asia, and help establish better foundations for the empowerment of rural communities. ASUS will continue proactive local participations in 2012, striving to improve the lives of people throughout the region.
