Goodyear provides real time information for Android users

KUALA LUMPUR, 11 May 2012 – Goodyear, world’s leading tire brand, has launched its critically acclaimed smartphone app, the Goodyear Highway Helper for both iPhone and Android users – an application that provides access to real time information to all motorists. This is in response to the explosive growth of smartphone users in Asia who are using apps as a life-enhancement productivity tool for functions like driving – catering to Malaysians on the road.

The only application of its kind, the Goodyear Highway Helper app (“the App”) was developed to cater to the needs of drivers while on the road, making any road trip a hassle-free experience. While some take road safety tips for granted, with the Highway Helper app, road safety has never been this fun and easy. Users of the new Android-capable version can build their road safety and vehicle maintenance knowledge through interactive quizzes and games, complete with social media functionality.

The App builds on the successful pilot version released for the iPhone and adds location-based functionality for a truly up-to-the-minute experience. With locally relevant information on weather conditions, the App also offers mapping functionality and lists of local emergency support numbers in the event of unexpected situations. Understanding auto care basic knowledge can help to conquer situations such as when the need to call for emergency services, identify reputable towing services, or change a tire arises.

The App is more than an emergency support. With the aim to empower everyday drivers, the App helps to improve travel planning and preparation with timely reminders, driving tips and immediate access to emergency phone numbers, car maintenance, troubleshooting guides and dealer search functions.Following the success of the app release on the Apple AppStore in 2009, this new version has been updated for the Android release. The latest edition of the application includes enhanced features such as tire health maintenance, daily road conditions and push tips for driving.
