Kuala Lumpur, 5 June 2012: In partnership with Maxis, MyTeksi launched the new MyTeksi passenger application, the first Mobile Taxi Hailing service in Malaysia that enable commuters to ‘hail’ taxis easily while on-the-go on their smartphones and tablets (iOS and Android), or simply by sending an SMS.
This innovative MyTeksi Mobile Taxi Hailing service is powered by Maxis’ Machine-to-Machine (“M2M”) technology and leverages on Maxis’ strength as the widest 3G and 2G network service provider in Malaysia. The power of the new Mobile Taxi Hailing solution lies in its ability to allow passengers to book a taxi with any mobile device, matching them with the nearest taxi and providing almost instant confirmation and certainty. Future service enhancements promise to improve the overall taxi ride experience for Malaysian commuters and tourists.

“Taxi passengers using the MyTeksi iOS app, Android app or SMS service would be able to get confirmation on their request within three minutes. In addition, they are given the taxi number plate, name of the driver, estimated time of arrival, and the estimated fare in advance, ensuring safety and transparency”, said Chew Wei Chuan, MyTeksi’s General Manager.
MyTeksi is the first Mobile Taxi Hailing service in Malaysia to use smartphone-based technologies for taxi booking and dispatch. Since year 2011, taxi drivers have been using the MyTeksi smartphone-based technologies to receive bookings powered by Maxis’ M2M SIM to communicate in real-time, wirelessly. MyTeksi has also received the full support from the President of the largest taxi operator association in Klang Valley (PERPEKLI). Dato' Haji Aslah Bin Abdullah, Chairman of Comfort Communication Sdn Bhd (Comfort Taxi) and President of WP & Selangor Taxi Association said: “We have been using MyTeksi since last year and our passengers are happier with the better service they receive!” He encourages others to try out the service.
Major taxi companies, associations, and cooperatives, besides Comfort Taxi are already in the process of testing the MyTeksi solution.
