IDC appoints Charles Reed Anderson as its Telecom Lead for Asia/Pacific

Kuala Lumpur, September 14, 2012 – IDC today announces the appointment of Charles Reed Anderson as Associate Vice President, Head -- Telecom Practice, Mobility Lead, IDC Asia/Pacific.

As Associate Vice President, Head -- Telecom Practice, Charles is responsible for leading IDC's Telecom Programs across Asia/Pacific. In this role, he will head IDC's telecoms research and strategy for the Asia/Pacific region, and work closely with regional and country teams to provide thought leadership, market insights and advisory services to IDC’s customers. Charles will be instrumental in assisting IDC's Telecoms customers to strengthen their competitive positioning, enhance their product and services portfolios, and penetrate new markets.

In addition, Charles will also co-lead IDC's Mobility Practice in Asia/Pacific. Charles, who has vast experience throughout the mobility ecosystem, will serve as one of the key points of contact for IDC's CIO customers and their business leaders on topics such as Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) strategy and solution development, the Consumerization of the Enterprise, and the Monetization of Data.

Now more than ever, consumer and enterprise customers are demanding complex solutions from their service providers, and re-thinking how they can take their value-added services from concept through to commercial launch. IDC will be tapping into Charles' expertise in fixed and mobile solutions to assist its customers address these new challenges, including the bundling of multiple products from multiple vendors to create a single solution to take to market. Charles will also be tasked to advise customers on the other go-to-market components (including sales strategy and enablement) that must be met to ensure a successful commercial launch once these complex solution ecosystems are in place.

Charles’ experience working for service providers in the value-added solutions space provides him with unique insights on how customers can leverage IDC’s analysts and consultants to assist their market analysis, business strategy developments and go-to-market processes. His focus will be to leverage IDC’s unique skills and knowledge to enhance customers' existing business processes rather than have customers outsource these functions to IDC.

Charles has over 20 years experience in the technology sector. In the last 13 years, he focused on levering emerging technologies to drive business transformation across a wide range of industry verticals. Prior to this appointment, he specialized in driving the adoption of value-added services in fixed- and mobile- telecommunications industries in Europe and Asia while working for leading telecommunication firms, including Vodafone, O2/Telefonica, and BT Global Services.

Charles has extensive experience working for and with fixed and mobile telecoms firms to design and deliver strategic engagements, including market segmentation, competitive positioning, market entry strategy, vendor analysis and partnering strategy, portfolio road-mapping, and data solutions strategy.

Charles obtained an MBA from the Rotterdam School of Management and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Minor in Economics from Northern Illinois University.
