Exciting Cutting-Edge Visual Expression With The Arrival of The Canon EOS C500 and EOS-1D C

Kuala Lumpur, 17 December 2012 – In pushing the limits of imaging technology, Canon today is proud to present two game-changers for cinematographers, namely the Canon EOS C500 and EOS-1D C!  An answer to the rising demands of the motion picture and television production industry, the Canon EOS C500 and EOS-1D C offer astounding 4K (4,096 x 2,160 pixels) resolution recording capabilities.

To mark the debut of the Cinema EOS Cameras in Malaysia, Canon Marketing (Malaysia) held an exclusive Canon Cinema EOS 4K Product Seminar, conducted by world renowned cinematographer and member of the prestigious body, the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC), Shane Luther Hurlbut, whose works include many multi-million dollar blockbuster films as well as Po Chan, the remarkable visual story teller, artist and director.

A total number of 200 participants including some of the movie industry’s top leaders attended the seminar.  Hurlburt and Chan, who are both experts in 4K movie productions, enlightened the audience on the vast capabilities of the Canon EOS C500 and EOS-1D C for locations and studios shooting, amongst other topics discussed during the session.

Coming on the heels of the C300 digital cinema camera, the new C500 gives cinematographers not only exceptional video quality performance, but also outstanding mobility, durability and expandability. Targeting Hollywood, Bollywood and the broader motion picture and television production industry, the interchangeable-lens EOS C500/EOS C500 PL will support 4K (4,096 x 2,160 pixels) video capture with RAW output to ensure the utmost in image quality.

One of the key highlights of the Canon EOS C500 besides being able to record at 4K resolution, is its capacity to support Canon’s diverse line-up of interchangeable EF lenses and EF Cinema Lenses. In addition, the EOS C500 PL has a PL lens mount that is compatible with industry-standard PL lenses so you can now bring to life the storyboard ideas that you always wished you could do.

The incredibly lightweight yet powerful EOS-1D C is a digital single-lens reflex camera that is able to record video at 4k resolution without using peripheral equipment such as external recorders thus enabling increased workflow mobility. Interestingly, it is also equipped with the Canon Log Gamma that gives you impressive image quality required in motion pictures by minimizing both shadow-detail loss and highlight-detail loss while providing a high level of color-grading freedom. Furthermore the EOS-1D C features a sensitivity range of ISO 100-51200 for outstanding still-image results with reduced noise even when shooting in dimly lit settings as it is fitted with the Dual DIGIC 5+ image processors.
