Malaysians can now access data about real time road congestion in Penang, Ipoh and Melaka — right on Google Maps
MALAYSIA, December 12, 2012: As part of our ongoing efforts to provide Malaysians with the most comprehensive, accurate and easy-to-use maps, we launched Traffic and Transit for Google Maps in Malaysia just earlier this year. Today, we are happy to announce that the Traffic layer will now be available in Ipoh, Melaka and Penang and we hope this will make Google Maps even more useful for Malaysian users — especially for those with long daily commutes in these three new areas.
Our Traffic layer provides data about real time road congestion right on the map in order to help users find how to get to where they need to go as quickly as possible. We overlap colors onto roads — red for bumper-to-bumper traffic, yellow for slow moving transit and green for free flowing traffic — so that users can easily determine the level of congestion they will face.
