Citrix further strengthens commitment and broadens footprint in ASEAN

Kuala Lumpur, 12th March, 2013 - Citrix made three strategic announcements in February that further affirmed its commitment to the region. The first is the appointment of Mark Micallef, a 20-year IT industry veteran, as the new Area Vice President for Citrix in ASEAN. Based in Singapore, Mark Micallef is responsible for the strategic development, direction and overall revenue goals for Citrix in the region, providing sales and channel leadership with immediate effect.

Holding leadership roles at Citrix in Asia since 2009, Micallef is extremely familiar with the Asia Pacific market. Since joining Citrix in 2004, he was instrumental in the company’s growth and development. One of his key achievements was building and tripling the enterprise business in Asia within two years. He also played a significant role in building a new team focused on cloud infrastructure, following the acquisition of Cloud.com in his previous appointment as Senior Director, Cloud Platform Group, Asia Pacific.

On 26 February, Citrix officially opened its second largest corporate datacenter globally in Singapore, worth US$8.7 million. Operational since November 2012, the new datacenter houses the production infrastructure for all internal IT operations in Asia Pacific, and has a dedicated desktop capacity of 1,400 virtualized desktops, with a planned capacity increase to 2,500 desktops. The move consolidated the Citrix datacenters in Australia and Bangalore, marking a key milestone in Citrix’s on-going plans to expand its presence in Singapore and Asia Pacific as a whole.

Topping off a busy February for the company, Citrix introduced XenMobile MDM, the outcome of Citrix’s strategic acquisition of Zenprise, which further expanded its enterprise mobility portfolio. As a result, Citrix is the first company to offer a complete portfolio of mobile solutions, ranging from device management to native mobile apps for e-mail, web access, collaboration and data sharing, as well as desktop virtualization for seamless access to Windows apps and desktops.
