Canon EOS 100D, EOS 700D and PowerShot N Redefine Photography
Kuala Lumpur, 30 May 2013 – Canon pushes the limits of imaging technology once again with the EOS 100D, EOS 700D and the PowerShot N, all armed with a host of new features for your ultimate imaging experience. One can now experiment and shoot photographs in new and unconventional ways with this line-up.

Combining the essence and sophistication of a DSLR with the convenience of a lightweight and compact body, measuring a mere 116.8mm x 90.7mm x 69.4mm and weighing approximately 370g, the EOS 100D is currently the world’s lightest DSLR.
The EOS pedigree is synonymous with photographic prowess, and the smaller form factor of the EOS 100D does not compromise performance. With a low-noise 18-megapixel APS-C sized CMOS sensor and the DIGIC 5 image processor, the EOS 100D captures photos that strikes the delicate balance between high resolution and high sensitivity, maintaining the essential details of the photo even in low light conditions.
Equipped with a Clear View LCD II electrostatic touch panel display and even more intelligent functions, its intuitive touch operation makes it extremely easy for new users to navigate through menus and functions. The swiftness of the EOS 100D allows photographers to shoot continuously at four frames per second (fps) making it much easier to track moving subjects like kids and pets.
Multi Shot Noise Reduction is another feature added into the EOS 100D that is ideal for handheld photos at night, taking four images in quick succession and then combining the visual data from all four images into one perfectly composited image – without the noise associated with high ISO images. Other new functions that one must try are the Creative Filters, Background Blue Simulation function, Scene Intelligent Auto, Silent Shooting mode and the Extra Effect shot.
You can even direct your very first short film with the Movie Servo AF function that is backed up by the Hybrid CMOS AF II system. The Movie Servo AF function greatly improves the quality of moving and panning shots by ensuring that the subject is kept in focus even if it is not in the middle of the frame. The EOS 100D also comes with the new EF-S18-55mm F3.5-5.6 IS STM lens that makes full use of its EOS Movie capabilities.
Here to empower amateur photographers, the new EOS 700D with its Vari-angle Clear View LCD II monitor has the most intuitive touch-screen controls and 360° mode dial that will give users the flexibility and ease of use unlike any other cameras. The EOS 700D has a 18-megapixel CMOS Sensor and powerful DIGIC 5 imaging processor that will give you extremely detailed images with a wide dynamic range and rich tonal gradation.
The EOS 700D delivers speed on various levels. It has a wide range of ISO speeds, ranging from 100 to 12800 (expandable to 25600) lending versatility for capturing fast-moving subjects even in low-light situations. The sensitivity of the CMOS sensor working in tandem with the DIGIC 5 processor also grants the EOS 700D swiftness when it comes to continuous burst shooting. It can continuously snap photos at speeds of up to 5 frames per second (fps). It is an ideal camera to capture sports and action shots without missing that defining moment.
The superior Auto-Focus (AF) capability of the EOS 700D is another clear indicator of its agility. The viewfinder uses a powerful 9-point all cross-type AF system, and the EOS 700D is one of only two cameras in this class to benefit from such a system (the other being the EOS 650D). Packed with features such as the Multi Shot Noise Reduction, Handheld Night Scene, HDR Backlight Control, it allows you to take pictures with improved detail and definition.
Have more precise control when shooting in live-view by adjusting the various camera settings via the intuitive touch screen interface. You can even preview shots on the LCD and frame it with the EOS 700D’s many Creative Filters such as the Toy Camera, Fish-eye and Miniature filters before taking the photo.
Just like the EOS 100D, the EOS 700D is powered up by the Hybrid CMOS AF II system and the new EF-S18-55mm F3.5-5.6 IS STM lens. With the Movie Servo AF function, you can easily track subjects quickly and accurately even if they approach or move away from the camera, giving you great footages of more mobile subjects.The camera is also equipped with a built-in stereo microphone.
Additionally, the Video Snapshot feature simplifies the video recording process by capturing quick video clips and places it in a dedicated album. The user can then use the in-camera editor to re-order or delete the clips in the album to form a coherent flow. Once that is done, the clips can be played back seamlessly like a short film, along with background music. All of this can be done in-camera, without requiring a computer or any additional software.
Gone are the days when photographers would use their cameras exclusively for portrait and landscape photography. These days, users love to hold their cameras in a variety of ways to get unusual yet exciting angles and perspectives.
With that in mind, Canon has designed the PowerShot N to be smaller and more agile with new dual shutter buttons at the top and bottom of the zoom-enabled lens ring for even one-handed operations. The Zoom Ring and Shutter Ring along with the 2.8-inch tilt-up LCD touch panel allow users to capture eye-catching photographs from extreme and hard-to-reach angles.
The PowerShot N encourages creative photography with the new Creative Shot mode which applies six randomized creative filters to a photograph with just a click in addition to the pre-set creative filters like fish-eye, miniature and toy camera effect.
Another new feature of the PowerShot N is the Hybrid Auto mode which will automatically record a four-second HD video before capturing a photo. Canon’s Smart Auto and Intelligent Stabilizer technologies will then use the video to determine the best settings to capture the perfect blur-free photograph. At the end of the day, the four-second videos are also merged into one video to tell the day’s “behind-the-scenes” story.
For maximized sharing of the creative shots, PowerShot N also features a one-touch WiFi button which enables users to instantly share their photographs on social media sites such as Facebook and YouTube or with other wireless devices using the smart device's data connection with the free Canon CameraWindow app (available for both iOS and Android).
Photographs taken with the PowerShot N are captured with the utmost clarity thanks to the power of the DIGIC 5 processor, the highly sensitive 12.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, and the new 8x optical zoom lens (extendable up to 16x with ZoomPlus technology). High-speed and low-light photographs remain sharp thanks to the high ISO 6400 speed. The PowerShot N can be recharged on a computer or portable power bank with the bundled USB cable.
