Over RM2.5 million in prizes and gifts in ‘Finding Huawei’ campaign

World’s third biggest phone maker also introduces HUAWEI Ascend G700

Kuala Lumpur (16 November 2013): In conjunction with the year-end festivities and to thank its customers in Malaysia for a successful 2013, information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider Huawei has kicked off its latest consumer campaign called ‘Finding Huawei’, offering over RM2.5 million worth in prizes & gifts over a 3-month period. In addition to the contest, the world’s third largest phone maker is also introducing its latest smartphone - the HUAWEI Ascend G700 - to the Malaysian market.

Alan An, Product Manager for Huawei Consumer Business Group Malaysia said that the ‘Finding Huawei’ campaign is a push towards extending awareness of the Huawei brand in Malaysia – from smartphones to mobile home devices. Through the campaign activities, they hope to spark a consumer search for existing Huawei products in their everyday lives.

“We hope to showcase Huawei’s strong presence in Malaysian homes, and the wide range of products that we have for our consumers. In fact, Huawei is well-established in the local telecommunications network industry, having supplied mobile home devices here for many years. We already have a strong cooperation with local network operators whereby we supply IPTV setup boxes, Optical Termination Units and VDSL2 Modems for broadband services. We are also the market leader for USB dongles and mobile Wi-Fi, again working closely with major network players.

“In the last few years, we have also made positive in-roads to the smartphone and tablet market. Now, many Malaysian consumers are also aware of our technologically superior and innovative smartphones like the recently-launched HUAWEI Ascend P6,” he added.

There are two main parts to the ‘Finding Huawei’ campaign covering both online and in-store promotions.

The online component will run on the Huawei Device Malaysia Facebook page (www.facebook.com/HuaweiDeviceMY) and comprises two contests to win daily, weekly or monthly prizes. These include shopping vouchers and HUAWEI smartphones. There will be three (3) monthly prizes comprising travel vouchers worth RM10,000 each.

For the first contest running from run from 16 November to 15 December 2013, participants will need to find and take a photo of a Huawei product or image which must then be posted on the contest announcement wall together with a creative slogan. The second contest will run from 16 December to 14 February 2014 and will require participants to ‘Spot the Difference’ between two images and to also complete a slogan.

The winners will be selected based on the most creative photo submitted or most creative slogan from all eligible entries. Winners of daily contests will win shopping vouchers worth RM100 each while weekly contest winners will walk away with a Huawei Ascend P6 or a Huawei Ascend Mate each.

Throughout the duration of the online contest, Huawei fans can rejoice. Those who have purchased Huawei products* between 1 January 2013 and 14 February 2014 AND participates in either contests stand a chance to win one of the three monthly prizes comprising travel vouchers worth RM10,000. All they need to do is to submit their IMEI number for verification. (*selected models apply)

In-store, any customer with an existing Huawei smartphone or mobile device, can walk into any participating Huawei authorized reseller, purchase a new device and walk away with a free gift. This offer is valid with the purchase of the Ascend P6, P2, Mate, G700, G510, Mobile W-Fi E5776, MediaPad Vogue and Youth only and available while stocks last.

In fulfilling the HUAWEI promise of placing great technology within reach for more people around the world, the company also announced the availability of the HUAWEI Ascend G700 in the Malaysian market. The mid-range smartphone packs a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display, has an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera.

Running on Android 4.2, it also features Huawei's Emotion UI, dual-SIM support, 1.2GHz quad-core MediaTek Cortex-A7 SoC processor and 2GB RAM. The recommended retail price is RM 899 and it is available at all authorized Huawei dealers nationwide.
