TM BRINGS HOME TOP HONOURS AT NACRA 2013 – AGAIN!

 ‘Most Outstanding Annual Report of the Year’ Platinum award is back in TM’s keeping, together with three more awards

Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) once again brought home the Challenge Trophy for the Platinum Award of the Most Outstanding Annual Report of the Year at the National Annual Corporate Report Awards (NACRA) 2013 recently, repeating the achievement that the Company recorded in 2011 and 2006.

In addition to winning the most coveted award, TM also swept up another three (3) awards, making a total of altogether four (4) awards won by TM at the event. The awards are:

Overall Excellence Award for Most Outstanding Annual Report of the Year – Platinum Award
Industry Excellence Award for Main Board Companies in the Trading and Services category – 17th consecutive year
Best Corporate Social Responsibility Award – Gold Award
Best Annual Report in Bahasa Malaysia – Silver Award

Present to receive the awards were Tan Sri Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa, Group Chief Executive Officer, TM; Idrus Ismail, Chief Legal, Compliance & Company Secretary, TM; Hazimi Kassim, Group Chief Internal Auditor, TM; and Izlyn Ramli, Vice President, Group Corporate Communications, TM. The awards were presented by YB. Dato’ Paduka Ahmad Bashah Md. Hanipah, Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism.

NACRA is the collaborative effort of three established institutions – Bursa Malaysia Berhad, Malaysia Institute of Accountants (MIA), and The Malaysia Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA). The key objective of NACRA is to promote excellence in corporate reporting, greater transparency and accountability by respective parties in their financial reporting and the awards are to acknowledge and recognise high quality corporate reporting.

NACRA is open to all companies incorporated or registered in Malaysia as well as the public sector and other organisations established in Malaysia.

On top of the NACRA win, TM has also been announced as the winner of the 2013 Best Sustainability Report Award (SRA) in Malaysia for the 2nd year running in the upcoming 9th Sustainability Reporting Awards which will be held on 17 December 2013 in Jakarta, Indonesia. SRA is organised by The National Centre for Sustainability Reporting (NCSR) – non-profit organisation based in Indonesia and an Organisational Stakeholder of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and GRI Certified Training Partner for Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. The award is aimed at paying homage to organisations who have published a sustainability report based on the GRI guidelines. Since last year, SRA has started awarding a Best Sustainability Report Award for each country in South East Asia. The judging process of these awards is conducted by a Jury Board and assessor team which consists of prominent figures in sustainability in the region.
