Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, November 25, 2013: Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) today honoured Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider with the “ICT Industry and Talent Development in Malaysia” award. This prestigious award recognizes Huawei’s significant contribution to nurturing ICT talent in Malaysia.
Since Huawei first established its business in Malaysia in 2001, it has become a strategic partner to all major telecom operators and deployed its latest technologies and products in the country. In order to support the long-term sustainable growth of the Malaysia telecom industry, Huawei has provided trainings to transfer its knowledge to the local market to increase the competitive edge of local talent within the global market.
MDeC is the government agency responsible for coordinating, promoting and developing the digital economy, Information & Communications Technology (ICT) industry and the pervasive use of ICT in Malaysia. Developing skilled ICT talent is a priority area for MDeC as the country transitions into a high income knowledge-based economy.

In 2011, Huawei signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with MDeC which underlined the company’s commitment to providing ICT training to 10,000 Malaysians to support the development of the telecommunication sector over the next five years. Within the agreement, Huawei has agreed to provide equipment to Malaysia Super Corridor (MSC), Malaysia Knowledge Workers Development Centre (KDC), and to several local universities to open training labs and accredited test labs.
In 2012, Huawei opened its Global Training Centre in Cyberjaya to train 20,000 engineers on an annual basis. In June 2013, Huawei and MDeC signed a MoU to jointly promote the Digital Education solution in Malaysia’s primary, secondary, and tertiary education systems. To date, Huawei has established scholarships with 18 Malaysian universities.

马来西亚多媒体发展机构是负责协调、促进发展及普及马来西亚数字化经济、信息、通讯及ICT技术产业的政府机构。在马来西亚向高知识经济转型期间,发展具备ICT技能人才是马来西亚多媒体发展机构的重点工作领域。

2011年,华为与马来西亚多媒体发展机构签署技术合作谅解备忘录,承诺在未来五年为马来西亚培训至少一万名通讯领域技术人才,并为马来西亚高科技园、部分高校的培训实验室和技术认证中心提供建设所需的全套设备。2012年,华为在马来西亚赛城设立全球培训中心,每年培训超过两万名工程师。2013年六月,华为与马来西亚多媒体发展机构签订备忘录,联合拓展马来西亚中小学的数字教育计划。至今,华为已与18所马来西亚高校合作设立奖学金,帮助更多通讯人才的成长。
